Dodge Viper will return for 2013 model year

(December 1, 2010) Reports have been circulating across the automotive landscape that the Chrysler Group, which has revised its entire lineup for the 2011 model year, is going a step further in 2012 with an all-new iconic Dodge Viper.

The Detroit News reports that Ralph Gilles, head of the Dodge brand, confirmed that the Chrysler board has given a new Viper final approval. Giles told the News that the new Viper is not based on anything else, and it will not share underpinnings with Ferrari or the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Giles said the Viper cabin is very rearward and the hood is very long, unlike modern-day sports cars.

The new Viper will be a 2013 model.

Chrysler ceased production of the sports car last summer after 18 years.
