Chrysler reportedly pauses electric crossover program

(January 15, 2025) Chrysler’s electric crossover that was planned for a 2026 release has been been put on hold, according to a company email to suppliers obtained by Mopar Insiders. The note said the program, code-named C6X (CA), “has been put on hold until further notice. Therefore, any spending associated with this program should be suspended immediately.” This reported Monday by Automotive News.

It’s the latest electric vehicle program to be delayed or postponed, with automakers around the globe reassessing consumer demand as adoption slows.

“Chrysler brand CEO Chris Feuell confirmed the program is paused for now as we assess the market and our customers’ needs and wants,” the automaker said in a statement. “As the Chrysler brand celebrates its 100th anniversary this summer, the future for Chrysler is bright with a refreshed Chrysler Pacifica coming in 2026, a new crossover coming soon after and a third product, inspired by the Halcyon concept, to follow.”

Chrysler used CES in 2022 to launch plans for an EV and gave a preview of the brand’s direction with the Airflow concept crossover.

The crossover was originally slated for a 2025 release, but that was pushed back to 2026. Stellantis' Ram brand has also delayed the launch of an electric pickup until 2026 and will introduce an extended-range truck first.
