Audi adds third vehicle to its U.S. electric vehicle lineup

(March 19, 2024) NGOLSTADT, Germany — Audi on Monday introduced a battery-powered crossover that will be a fresh addition in the U.S. and other key markets. The Q6 E-tron will become the brand's third electric crossover marketed in the U.S., joining the smaller Q4 E-tron and larger Q8 E-tron. The Q6 E-tron will arrive in the U.S. by year end, Audi said.

The Q6 E-tron is the first Audi model on Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Electric architecture, which is shared with Porsche.

The Q6 E-tron's size and styling will be familiar to Audi customers and dealers. Its dimensions are similar to those of the Q5 midsize crossover, the brand's top-selling model in the U.S. The Q6 E-tron has a wheelbase of 114.1 inches, a length of 187.8 inches and a height of 64.8 inches. Those dimensions are slightly more than the Q5's wheelbase of 111 inches and length of 184.3 inches. But the Q5 is taller than the Q6 E-tron, though by less than an inch.

The Q6 E-tron destined for the U.S. will have more power than what other regions receive, in a nod to the preferences of Audi's American customers. The brand will initially launch the nameplate in the U.S. with the Q6 E-tron and SQ6 E-tron. Sportback versions will follow.

While all models will be equipped with a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack, in the U.S. the Q6 E-tron will have 422 hp rather than the 382 hp in other markets. The SQ6 E-tron will produce 483 hp across markets. Power output for either version is even higher with launch control, which provides a temporary boost, Audi said.

The preliminary estimated range of the Q6 E-tron, based on an EPA test cycle, is over 300 miles, an Audi spokesperson said. The range of other variants will be announced as they're certified.

U.S. pricing for the Q6 E-tron was not disclosed, but it will slot between the Q4 E-tron and Q8 E-tron. In European markets such as Germany, the EV starts at €74,700 ($81,200).
