Pace of gas price decline slows as Labor Day weekend arrives



(August 30, 2024) WASHINGTON, D.C. — Pump prices are still falling, but at a slower pace than recently, dipping just two cents to $3.36 since last week. A slight uptick in gas demand may reflect the last hurrah for summer travelers. A storm system forming in the Atlantic may pose a threat to falling gas prices as well.

(August 28, 2024) DALLAS — GasBuddy, a fuel savings platform, has released its annual Labor Day travel forecast, predicting the average price of gas will continue its recent downward trend, falling to $3.27 per gallon on Labor Day, the lowest Labor Day price since 2021. At $3.27 per gallon, this Labor Day’s national average would be 50 cents per gallon, or 13% below last year’s $3.77 tally, saving Americans a combined $750 million over the Friday-through-Monday travel period.

(August 23, 2024) — Reaching a price point last seen on March 6, the national average for a gallon of gas fell six cents to $3.38 since last week. “The clouds of war overseas are less dark at the moment and the Atlantic is quiet now too, which is taking pressure off of oil prices,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “More retail locations east of the Rockies are selling gas below $3 a gallon.  Will this trend continue through the end of the year?"

(August 18, 2024) Ford redesigned the midsized 2024 Ranger and for the first time added the Raptor trim level, an expansion of the off-road performance arm first introduced 15 years ago in 2009, for the F-150 Raptor.
