Research shows consumers ambivalent to recalls

Despite the dangers, research from Autotrader shows that consumers are largely ambivalent to recalls.

Gas prices surge approaching Memorial Day weekend

(May 20, 2015) WASHINGTON — One week from the Memorial Day holiday, the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline has increased on 32 of the past 34 days, reaching a price of $2.71 per gallon. Consumers are paying a nickel per gallon more than one week ago and 26 cents more per gallon than one month ago, according to AAA's weekly report.

National Safety Council estimates 383 traffic fatalities over holiday weekend

(May 17, 2015) ITASCA, Ill. — The National Safety Council estimates 383 traffic fatalities and another 46,300 medically consulted injuries may occur over the traditional summer Memorial Day kick-off weekend from motor vehicle collisions. Total traffic fatalities for May 2015 are estimated to total 3,073.

The safety council measures holiday statistics beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 22, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

NADA says while new vehicle sales increase, used vehicle values steady

(May 15, 2015) MCLEAN, Va. — In their latest Guidelines report published by NADA Used Car Guide, analysts observed April used vehicle values fell by only 1.4 percent, while new vehicle sales improved 5 percent during the month. With such a nominal change in the used market,  NADA's Used Vehicle Price Index only dipped by two tenths of a point to 124.3 in April.

The study was commissioned by Expedia and conducted by GfK, an independent global market research company. Among other queries, GfK asked 1,000 Americans to rank the behavior of their fellow motorists in order of aggravation.
