Edmunds forecasts Black Friday will boost November sales

(November 25, 2014) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Edmunds.com forecasts that 1,261,813 new cars and trucks will be sold in the U.S. in November for an estimated Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR) of 16.7 million. The projected sales will be a 1.3 percent decrease from October 2014, but a 1.6 percent increase from November 2013.
 

AAA supports NHTSA's action calling for national recall of Takata airbags

(November 21, 2014) ORLANDO, Fla. — AAA supports NHTSA's action to call for a full national recall of affected Takata airbags. Vehicles are often bought and sold across state lines so it is in the best interest of consumers to expand this recall to all states. Testimony from today's hearing before the Senate Commerce Committee further underscored that the grave danger from these defective airbags is a national safety priority and should be treated as such.

AAA: More than 46 million Americans to travel Thanksgiving week

(November 20, 2014) ORLANDO, Fla. — AAA Travel projects 46.3 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Thanksgiving weekend, the highest volume for the holiday since 2007 and a 4.2 percent increase over 2013.

Almost 90 percent of travelers (41.3 million) will celebrate the holiday with a road trip and likely will enjoy the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices in five years. The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is defined as Wednesday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 30.

NICB data finds car thieves don't take breaks for the holidays

(November 19, 2014) DES PLAINES, Ill. — Car thieves don't take a break for the holidays, according to new data released today by the National Insurance Crime Bureau.  NICB's 2013 Annual Holiday Vehicle Theft Report analyzes data from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which showed a total of 708,909 vehicle thefts for the year.

New Year's resolutions apparently didn't stop thieves on Jan. 1, 2013, the number one holiday for vehicle thefts with 2,184 vehicles stolen.  Their hearts may have softened for Valentine's Day, though, when thefts dropped to 1,757.

Buying in-vehicle technology — AutoTrader names six must-haves

(November 18, 2014) ATLANTA — As automakers ramp up their efforts to integrate more and more safety and infotainment technology in their vehicles, consumers are being forced to rethink how they approach the car shopping process.

According to AutoTrader's recently released In-Vehicle Technology Shopper Influence Study, 40 percent of those surveyed said they would like more time in the vehicle during the test drive to fully evaluate all of the vehicle's technology and safety features.
