TrueCar says new-car transaction prices soar 3.6 percent

(March 3, 2014) SANTA MONICA, Calif. —TrueCar estimated today that the average transaction price (ATP) for light vehicles in the U.S. was $32,074 in February, up $1,110 — or 3.6 percent — from February 2013 and down $24 (-0.1 percent) from January 2014.

Three-year old subcompacts have highest retained value, NADA reports

(March 2, 2014) McLEAN, Va. — Three-year-old cars in the subcompact segment have the highest retaining value at 54.4 percent of the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for a typically equipped model, says the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Used Car Guide in the February edition of NADA Perspective, a monthly industry trends report. The electric vehicle (EV) segment ranked the lowest at 39.9%.
