Kelley Blue Book names 10 'Most Affordable' sport utilities

(May 29, 2014) IRVINE, Calif. — Whether car shoppers are looking for an all-new family hauler, a means of navigating through inclement weather, or cargo space not found in smaller vehicles, an SUV is often the answer.

And no matter what shoppers seek, chances are they also are in search of the best price.  To make the quest easier, the editors at Kelley Blue Book kbb.com have named this year's 10 Most Affordable SUVs.

The hand-selected list includes a roster of fuel-efficient models, all starting with a Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price of less than $22,000.  Sweeping top spots on the list is Jeep with its 2014 Patriot and 2014 Compass.  The Patriot is crowned as the No. 1 recommended vehicle on this list due to its affordability.

The 2014 Nissan Juke comes in third place on the list, following the Patriot and Compass (respectively).  With unmistakable styling, the Juke is without a doubt one of the most unique SUVs in the market, and it is made even more attractive by its price.

"Buying a SUV doesn't require shoppers to break the bank," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com.  "While SUVs often are associated with a higher price tag, we've generated this list that shows the starting point for affordable SUV shopping is well within many buyers' reach, so they can be confident in buying a vehicle that not only fits their lifestyle, but also their budget."
