(April 25, 2023) If you’ve been paying attention, you probably already know that Genesis is building some of the most impressive luxury vehicles in the industry today. It should come as no surprise, then, that the Electrified GV70 driven here is nothing short of excellent. The award-winning and top-of-its-class GV70 — competing against luxury legacy brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes — is made even better by going all-electric, as indicated by its moniker. 

The Electrified GV70 is new for 2023 and is the third EV in the Genesis lineup. Visually, the Electrified GV70 is identical to the intoxicating style of the gasoline-powered GV70, except for a slightly different grille and wheels. Dual electric motors and a 77.4 kWh battery pack replace the gasoline engine and combine for 429 horsepower. A “Boost” function enables the motors to deliver 483 horsepower for up to 10 seconds, activated via a steering-wheel button.

While the Electrified GV70 only offers 236 miles of driving range, it can quickly recharge—via a fast-charging system—from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

The Electrified GV70 is fast, even without using the Boost mode, effortlessly reaching highway speeds. The Electrified GV70 will initially be available in only two trim levels—Advanced and Prestige— and a limited number of color choices. However, Genesis has indicated that more choices are on the way.

If all this goodness wasn’t enough, GV70 comes with powertrain coverage for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles and complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles. It also comes with three years of complimentary 30-minute DC fast charging anywhere within Electrify America’s charging network and qualifies for up to $7500 in federal tax credit for new EVs.
