Ducati recalling model year 2011 Diavel motorcycles

(August 18, 2011) Ducati is recalling certain model year 2011 Diavel motorcycles because of a problem with the bikes’ side stands that could result in the stands bending or breaking, and the bikes falling over after being parked. The recall includes 919 motorcycles.

Remy motor powers Lightning Motorcycles electric bike to land speed record

(August 16, 2011) PENDLETON, Ind. (PRNewswire) — Using a Remy propulsion electric motor, Lightning Motorcycles blasted through the land speed record for production electric bikes by 30 mph to be crowned the first electric bike in the world to exceed 200 mph.

In an Aug. 14 SCTA-sanctioned run at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, Lightning — the 2010 land speed record holder — achieved 206.079 mph, topping its 2010 speed of 176 mph.

Six Yamaha XT660X have starring role in new movie

(August 9, 2011) Yamaha once again takes to the silver screen as London based production company Between The Eyes, has chosen Yamaha's XT660X for the 2012 British action-thriller, "Welcome To The Punch."

A fleet of six of the supermotard-inspired XT660 models have been supplied by Yamaha Motor UK, which will feature alongside British actors James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) and Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes).

Ducati experiences big sales growth in North America

(July 30, 2011) Ducati North America has announced an excellent close to the second quarter of 2011 with sales up 61 percent for the quarter and Year-to-Date sales up 63 percent over the first half of 2010.

2011 sales have been exceptional in the U.S,. Canadian and Mexican markets with total North American growth surpassing the 60 percent mark in the first half of the year.

Weird Harley-Davison creations featured at Milwaukee museum

(July 15, 2011) A new collection of rare and one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson creations from the 108 years of the company’s existence opened on June 11 at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

Called “Collection X: Weird, Wild Wonders of the Harley-Davidson Museum,” the exhibit will feature odd prototypes that were created as concepts but never manufactured or sold, along with other WTFery from the H-D archives.

Ducati opens new shop at Rome airport

Chip Yates rides electric superbike to Pikes Peak world record

(June 28, 2011) American superbike rider and electric vehicle pioneer Chip Yates has delivered another stunning race result with his homebuilt 240-horsepower electric superbike at the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday.

Carlin Dunne sets Pikes Peak course record in Ducati Multistrada 1200

(June 27, 2011) Carlin Dunne won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Sunday on the Ducati Multistrada 1200, setting an all time motorcycle record and giving the Italian brand its second consecutive victory in the historic race.

Dunne, owner of Ducati Santa Barbara in Calif., took the checkered flag on his store’s showroom demo bike.
