(January 29, 2023) Some 50 years after Don McLean penned American Pie, King Cadillac is looking up while the jester, Elon Musk, is looking down and — I’m guessing here — looking ahead. Of course, Cadillac and its GM siblings are planning to catch Tesla in a way only $illon-dollar multinationals can; Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Buick will be introducing a catalog of EVs, beginning in 2023.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X

PHOENIX — Notwithstanding the price of gasoline averaging nearly five dollars a gallon for premium and an avalanche of media hype, manufacturer TV advertisement for electric vehicles and the seemingly unquenchable thirst for SUVs from the car buying public, full-sized pickup trucks sales in the U.S. continue to reign supreme in sales numbers.

(January 22, 2023) In the 1990s, just say “BMW,” and car geeks would probably think of the light, tight 328i with its 190-hp inline six-cylinder engine, neat 6-speed manual, rear wheel drive and decent room for four, all in a compact 176-inch-long shape. These days, the light, tight BMW many may think about may not be a sedan labeled 3-Series.

(January 15, 2023) In a few of the enthusiast pubs — notably, the Brit mags — there’s the regular reference to what their editorial staffs buy and drive. And those wheels just keep on spinning, with an ongoing hubbub of collectible this and track day that; you wonder how-in-the-King’s name they have the time, even if they can find the money, to acquire so many machines.

Dodge Charger Widebody — Say farewell to the iconic Charger

(January 10, 2023) When Dodge first launched the Charger back in 1966 it was a fastback version of the midsize Coronet as a four-seat two-door receiving a tepid reception with sales not what Dodge expected. The second-generation Charger with more aggressive styling with its recessed grille and flying buttress roofline and recessed rear window captured the buying public’s attention with sales nearly 100,000 units. It also greeted the arrival of the now famous Charger Daytona with its massive rear wing and aerodynamic front nose cone and qualifying NASCAR credentials.

Audi A3 — A fun-to-drive small sedan with a luxury bent

(January 8, 2023) Audi introduced the all-new A3 sedan as a 2022 model after a year hiatus, and we give the German luxury car company a high score for creating a fun-to-drive small car that is every bit an Audi as its larger, more-expensive cousins. This is the smallest Audi sedan, and that suits us just fine. We love small cars that can comfortably accommodate two adult passengers in the second row for an occasional trip to a favorite eating place.

(January 1, 2023) The 2023 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV with seating for up to five passengers has lived at or near the top of virtually everyone's rankings for the past few years thanks to its premium interior and excellent driving dynamics. Current buyers apparently agree, the CX-5 is an excellent choice because it has become the best-selling vehicle in Mazda's U.S. lineup.

Kia Telluride – Already superb SUV only gets better for 2023

(December 28, 2022) It’s the hottest 8-seat, 3-row SUV on the market with such a selling success that Kia literally can’t build enough of them to meet consumer demand. So much so that Kia is upping production at its West Point, Ga., manufacturing plant by 25 percent to around 120,000 a year.  It’s  the 4th bestselling 3-row SUV in America. In fact, it’s the one I recommend the most for anyone looking for a family friendly 3-row vehicle.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

HERNDON, Va. — In the three plus years since last driving Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio a lot has changed in the Alfa Romeo showroom; admittedly, that’s important only if you can find an Alfa Romeo showroom — don’t look for one in smaller locales with other high-end imports. Of note is a recent J.D. Power survey, signaling a significant uptake in customer satisfaction for Alfa Romeo.

(December 25, 2022) Facing an ever-increasing fierce competition among other ultra-luxe SUV competitors, a new fifth-generation Range Rover has been entirely designed taking luxury, design, poshness and performance to even loftier new heights.
