2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

INDIANAPOLIS — With each generation, Mercedes claims the C-Class is more sophisticated, more upscale, and just more of everything.  That was true when the 1994 C-Class replaced the 190E and it’s true as the fourth-generation supplants the third.  You often hear these cars compared to the flagship S-Class.  Beyond hyperbole, those comparisons bear truth.

Mercedes-Benz S550 is a tool for uncompromised travel

By Casey Williams

In a former life, I flew on company jets for trade shows and factor visits. There was nothing better than returning to the airport at the end of a long day, with many miles still ahead, and see the plane sitting on the tarmac with its strobes flashing, stairway down, and cabin aglow. You could envision those comfy leather chairs as the captain welcomed you aboard. It was like coming home.

Mercedes-Benz CLA250 — The real deal

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

It sounded like an idea whose time probably shouldn't have come — an entry-level Mercedes-Benz with a starting price under $30,000 with front-wheel drive and a transverse 4-cylinder engine. But here it is nonetheless, and we found that the 2014 CLA250 is the real deal.

Mercedes GL450 — High on S-Class style

By Casey Williams

Mercedes-Benz did not build posh wagons in the 1950s, but that didn’t stop some crazy coach builder from creating a 300c long-back in 1957.  Designers commandeered one of the most prestigious and technically-advanced sedans, a favorite of world leaders, and extended it for sporting pursuits.  If Mercedes-Benz built its own S-Class wagon in 2013, imagine it like the GL450.

Mercedes-Benz S350 Diesel — High-mileage luxury sedan

Whenever a new test vehicle arrives, I try to guess the price before looking at the Monroney sticker.  Sometimes, I’m within $100 which is very good!  With the S350, I wasn’t even close.  Due to a variety of factors, European vehicles have become very pricey, but, the reality is that for buyers who want this vehicle (and many will), they’ll get it anyhow.

Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC

Years, or even centuries ago some military leader said, “Never go into battle without superior weaponry.” (I think it may have been the famous General Nuisance.) I thought of this recently as I was driving in one of this year’s seemingly endless array of snowstorms in southern Michigan.

Mercedes-Benz GL350 — SUV grandeur

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Less than a decade ago a big sport utility vehicle capable of hauling seven passengers comfortably was called a truck. Back then large SUVs were built on truck platforms, but today the era of body-on-frame construction for the most part is gone, and if there is any one vehicle that has the ability to permanently eliminate the truck reference from the SUV vernacular it's the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL that not only pampers its occupants in audacious comfort, but drives and handles like a luxury sedan.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL

SANTA FE, N.M. — Mercedes-Benz unveiled its second-generation GL-Class luxury sport utility. If initial impressions mean anything the legendary German car company will not be able to build enough to meet the demand, which is good news for American workers because every one of the vehicles is manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK350

MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. —  For 2013, Mercedes-Benz has restyled its GLK350, a luxury sport utility vehicle it brought to the United States when it debuted in 2009 as a 2010 model. Labeled a mid-size SUV, the GLK joined other members of the Mercedes SUV family like the full-size M-Class and the larger GL-Class.
