Lincoln MKX — An impressive crossover

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The newly named Lincoln Motor Car Company came stumbling out of the blocks in 2013 with an all-new MKZ mid-sized sedan that missed the mark. Lincoln got it right a year later with its second all-new product, the MKC compact crossover. Although based on the Ford Escape, we felt Lincoln had "escaped" the rebadged feeling with a solid upscale vehicle. The MKC delivers the goods in styling, interior comfort and driving dynamics.

Lincoln Navigator — Updated styling, more power, new features

By David Finkelstein

It's big, brawny, has a commanding footprint, and is quite purposeful. I'm describing the 2015 Lincoln Navigator “full-size” sport utility vehicle. With three-row seating and overwhelming amounts of cargo carrying capabilities, you can travel in total luxury inside a whisper-quiet cabin.

Lincoln Navigator — Now with EcoBoost

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Lincoln will spend great gobs of money to the tune of billions of dollars over the next few years to completely revitalize its lineup with the goal of once again becoming competitive with the luxury nameplates of the world including the world of large body-on-frame sport utility vehicles.

Lincoln MKC — Getting it right

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

A couple of years ago the new Lincoln MKZ mid-sized sedan was touted by parent company Ford as the new face of Lincoln, the first of a series of products that would put the fading luxury brand back into the forefront. We agree the MKZ is a decent entry-level luxury vehicle. But we were disappointed at how many corners Lincoln cut particularly in interior quality, craftsmanship and fit and finish. It was clear to us that the MKZ did not effectively escape the badge engineering of the past.

2015 Lincoln MKC

INDIANAPOLI
S — Hitting the sweet spot of any automotive segment on the first try is like hitting your first club at Pebble Beach and seeing nothing but a white dot tickling a flag. By being named “Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association in October, that’s exactly what happened to Lincoln’s new MKC.

Lincoln MKZ — A ground-rule double

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

We waited patiently for a couple of months to get our hands on the all-new 2013 Lincoln MKZ mid-sized entry-level luxury car. Lincoln's hype over what has been proclaimed the first all-new car of the newly named Lincoln Motor Company and the foundation of what promises to be a reinvigorated lineup that will bring the brand back on equal footing with such competitors as Cadillac, Lexus and Mercedes raised our anticipation level.

Lincoln MKS — Where luxury meets EcoBoost

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

In a month gone is the gigantic Lincoln Town Car, for decades the personification of American luxury sedans. The big, comfortable cruiser is still the staple of many limousine fleets across the country, but for the family man seeking plush, soft-sprung luxury the Town Car era has passed.

Lincoln devotees today have two choices to fill the void, the large MKT crossover, a contender for the livery business and the top-line MKS sedan now in its third model year since its introduction in 2008 as a 2009 model, and the only vehicle Lincoln has to offer the traditional American large luxury sedan buyer, although it has neither the size nor the softness of ride of the Town Car.

Lincoln MKZ hybrid — Could be the smartest entry lux buy today

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The hybrid luxury cars now on the market generally offer the power of a big V-6 or a V-8 engine, but at only a modest savings in gas consumption while commanding a premium price. Payback time is forever, if ever.

Additionally it is seldom can you find a luxury sedan with great fuel economy without compromising performance, and at an attractive price. This makes the 2011 entry-level luxury Lincoln MKZ a very unusual sedan — a vehicle that literally stands alone in its uniqueness.

2011 Lincoln MKX

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For 2011 Lincoln has pulled out all the stops to prove to the Lexus RX luxury crossover and others who the real king of the hill is. To say it’s been done with style doesn’t begin to describe the ammunition Lincoln has loaded up to see the MKX through competitive comparisons.

Lincoln MKT EcoBoost – Technology that works

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

One of Ford’s bright ideas back in the late ’90s was to build a luxury version of its full-sized Ford Expedition sport utility. It was called the Lincoln Navigator and was such a huge success and such a profit generator that General Motors, caught flat-footed, threw some luxury knickknacks and a Cadillac grille on the Chevrolet Tahoe and began selling it under the name Escalade. The tarted-up Tahoe was almost as successful as the Navigator.
