Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid — A new meaning for hybrid

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

(August 29, 2021) General Motors introduced the hybrid Silverado and GMC Sierra during the last decade giving these full-sized pickups a slight edge in gas mileage and a small amount of available slow-speed all-electric driving. But it wasn't until the introduction of the 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost Hybrid that a wide range of truly electric possibilities was included on a full-sized truck. The new F-150 Hybrid not only increases gas mileage about 20 percent, it adds incredible capability in several other areas.

(July 11, 2021) Back in the last century Ford advertised that it had "a better idea." Its "better idea" campaigns usually came attached to a new vehicle such as the early Mustang. Now in the year 2021 Ford has a better idea — perhaps we should call it a "good" idea — build a smaller version of the all-new ultra-popular Bronco, with all the styling cues of the larger truck, but at a price point many people can afford. And call it the Bronco Sport.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1

PHOENIX — Since it was first introduced back in 1964 — almost 60 years ago — Mustang has been on the short list of cars most everyone wants to own. For decades Ford has created its own Mustang ecosystem with an interconnected stable of high-performance offerings like the Boss 302 and 429, Mustang Bullitt offered three times — 2001, 2008 and 2019, Mach 1 and the super rare SVT Cobra R, with only 300 copies ever built — all in red, to name just a few of many over the years.

Ford Mustang Mach-E — Electric-car perfection

(June 20, 2021) Even though many people have defended Ford's use of the iconic Mustang name, you can argue with us the whole live-long day and we won't be convinced that the new Ford Mustang Mach-E is really a two-door Mustang pony car. What the Mustang Mach-E is we discovered is a well-done, lightning-fast electric crossover — sans the rumbling Mustang V-8 engine — that has some familiar Mustang styling cues highlighted by the galloping Mustang logo and the tri-bar taillamps.

2021 Ford Bronco Sport

MIAMI — Ford put the Bronco on what would become a 25-year production hiatus after the 1996 model year even though just two years earlier it had been the most widely viewed SUV in the country. That was, of course, on June 17, 1994, when television cameras focused on Los Angeles freeways as A.J. Cowlings led LAPD and California Highway Patrol  officers on a slow-speed chase with his former Buffalo Bills teammate, O.J. Simpson, in the back holding a pistol and allegedly threatening suicide rather than face murder charges over the stabbing death of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Brown.

2021 Ford F-250 Tremor

INDIANAPOLIS — Is it a luxury car or an all-capable pickup?  Well, in the case of the 2021 Ford F-250 Platinum Tremor, the answer is “both.”  Interior accommodations rival a Lincoln Navigator while its heavy duty engineering and off-road fortifications make it the ultimate pickup too.  It can take your family to church, then out to the wilderness to pray.  Just don’t ask it to squeeze into small spaces.  That’s not one of its luxuries.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

PHOENIX — There’s been quite a buzz about the new Mustang Mach-E, ever since it debuted at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Fast forward through 12 months of presidential-election fever, a global pandemic, and we finally got a week of seat time behind the wheel of Ford’s first mass-market all-electric SUV, and it bears the legendary Mustang pony badge fore and aft.

2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s been the best-selling pickup for generations, has carried carpenters to worksites, busted trails to mountaintops, rolled up to clubs, and took young couples to the altar.  It’s so embedded in American culture that it’s even been on postage stamps.  But, for the first time in its very long history, it can power a worksite, campsite, or partysite all on its own.  A full redesign lofts the 2021 Ford F-150 to the top.

Ford Mustang EcoBoost High Performance — Fun, fun, fun

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Over the years the Ford Mustang "Pony Car" has been all about a beefy V-8 engine under the hood. For 2020, it's still the 5.0-liter V-8 that grabs most of the attention with 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. But sharing the spotlight is a modern turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can stand on its own without apology.

2020 Ford F-350

PHOENIX — Ford was a bit late to the party following major refreshes for Ram, Chevrolet and GMC super duty pickup trucks but now for 2020 its America’s truck leader Ford’s turn with a heavily refreshed lineup of Super Duty’s of their own.
Ford Super Duty trucks include the F-250, F-350 and F-450. Six trim levels are offered for 2020 including the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited.
