2015 Chevrolet Trax

SAN DIEGO — Asked about the reasoning behind the launch of the Chevy Trax, chief engineer Al Manzour answered with refreshing honesty: “Originally, the Trax was scheduled to launch in 2012 just behind the Buick Encore, but it was delayed to see if the sales we thought were in this segment actually were there.”

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray — A refined sports car

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is impressive. We can't remember a vehicle that delivered so many things so well including styling that is guaranteed to turn heads, exotic performance at a less-than-exotic price, a very drivable demeanor making it an excellent choice as a daily driver, and a vastly improved interior with updated technology.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado

DEL MAR, Calif. — Chevrolet's goal was to leapfrog the competition with its all-new 2015 Colorado mid-sized pickup. Actually that's not such a lofty goal. There are only two major players left in the shrinking segment — the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier — and neither has undergone any significant upgrades in nearly a decade.

2015 Chevy Suburban, Tahoe

SQUAW VALLEY, Calif. — There's a reason the Chevrolet Suburban has the distinction of being the longest continuous automotive nameplate in the world. Since the first model rolled into showrooms in 1934 as a 1935 model it has met the needs of Americans who desired a large station-wagon-like vehicle capable not only of hauling large families and their cargo, but doing it in a go-anywhere sport utility vehicle truck.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s a common complaint that cars are getting too expensive, but are they really?  As part of the Malibu’s 50th Anniversary coverage, we reached out to Chevrolet P.R. Manager Chad Lyons and the GM Heritage Center’s Jim Vehko for perspective.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s a joy watching the looks on Corvette enthusiast faces as the next chapter in a revered history washes over them. Books will be written. Collections will be joined. Races will be won. Fantasies will be fulfilled. Any journalist, when asked what they thought of the seventh-generation (C7) 2014 Corvette during its Detroit auto show premiere last January; paused, took a deep breath, then slowly let it out before answering. It’s that hot.

Chevrolet Silverado — Solid improvement

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Our first look at the all-new Chevrolet Silverado full-sized pickup came last December when it was unveiled to the press a few weeks before the Detroit Auto Show. At first glance, it appeared devoid of styling changes. And then the announcement that it would be powered by a 4.3-liter V-6 or a 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V-8, the same engine displacements that have been found under the hood for years. It left us wondering, "what was General Motors thinking?"

Chevrolet Cruze Diesel — High efficiency

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Diesel engines have become more powerful, more refined and more fuel efficient, yet the number of diesel-powered cars in the U.S. remain almost non-existent. People who want the advantages of a diesel engine in their family vehicle have turned to Volkswagen, which for years has held a virtual monopoly on the affordable diesel-car market.

Chevrolet Impala — Return to glory

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The Chevrolet Impala has been a star of the rental car fleets over the past decade, but that's not the way it was in 1958 when the Impala was first introduced as the Chevrolet "luxury" nameplate bringing a bit of Cadillac panache to the working man. Now Chevrolet returns to those glorious days of yesteryear with the all-new 2014 Impala, once again sharing a platform with the Cadillac – this time with the XTS.

SAN ANTONIO — Our first look at the all-new Chevrolet Silverado full-sized pickup left us scratching our head last December when it was unveiled to the press a few weeks before the Detroit Auto Show. At first glance, it appeared devoid of styling changes. And then came the announcement that it would be motivated by a 4.3-liter V-6 and 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s, the same engine displacements that have been found under the hood for years. It left us wondering, "what was General Motors thinking?"
