2024 Chevrolet Trax

PHOENIX — All-new for 2024 the Chevrolet Trax — the brand's new entry-level model now that the Spark has been discontinued — is larger, much better looking inside and out, less expensive and surprisingly a bit larger than the Trailblazer, Chevy's other small compact SUV. The previous Trax ended production after the 2022 model year, and there is no 2023 Trax model rather just jumping to 2024 for the Korean built sub-compact crossover.

(February 5, 2023) It’s a ruby red chunk of a truck, a near-luxury 3-row SUV — real SUV, not crossover — that has three rows of seats and can tow up to 8,100 pounds of trailer. Yet it’s as quiet as can be on a long trip to dinner with five on board. Borrowing the Silverado’s bold face for 2021 saw a respectable 106,000 sold, over the last-generation 2020’s 88,000 and close to its almost record-breaking halcyon days in 2018 and 2019. And on a rainy weekend’s travel between two states and three different events, it did its job as a truck, bus and commuter.

(November 30, 2022) If you’re in the market for a large SUV, sooner or later — probably sooner — you’re going to find yourself in a Chevrolet showroom looking at a new Tahoe and/or Suburban. Likely it will be the Tahoe, which through the third quarter of this year had more than doubled its older stablemate in sales.

(July 23, 2022) After being fully redesigned a few years back, the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox gets a mid-cycle refreshing this year that includes new headlights, a new grille, updated bumpers and the addition of a new RS model that has some distinctive style features of its own.

2022 Chevy Bolt EUV

PHOENIX — In 2017 Chevrolet first came out with the all-electric Bolt hatchback. Now for 2022 the Bolt has been redesigned and the brand expanded by introducing the Bolt EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle) that is a bit larger and more practical.  Chevrolet is vaguely suggesting the Bolt EUV is a crossover vehicle, but it’s front-wheel drive only and its low ground clearance fails as a utility vehicle. The regular Bolt EV has a starting price of $31,500, the Bolt EUV is $2,000 more at $33,500.

(June 14, 2022) I grew up in mid-east Michigan on a farm about 125 miles straight north of Detroit. Most families like mine were farmers or blue collar with most employment dominated by large auto factories and foundries, almost exclusively General Motors, surrounded on the outskirts by fertile farmland that mainly grew wheat, navy beans, alfalfa and sugar beets. In that part of the state pickup trucks were a hard-working tool and as much an elemental part of the landscape as grain trucks, tractors and combines.

(March 27, 2022) The Chevrolet Suburban has been an incredible people and cargo hauler for generations — it came on the scene in 1934 as a 1935 model — and it has grown into the epitome of the ultimate go-anywhere family hauler. Now with three powerful engines and six trim levels to fit the needs and pocketbooks of buyers the 12th generation Suburban is in a class by itself.

(February 6, 2022) When Chevrolet reworked its top-selling Silverado pickup in 2019 it did a lot of good things to keep the Chevy faithful in the fold while attracting new buyers to the brand — upgrading the truck with a new body and frame, creating 20 percent more cargo space, increasing maximum payload capacity by 14 percent, upping max towing capacity by 5 percent, and creating user-friendly gauges and controls.

Chevrolet Corvette — Supercar performance at an amazing price

It was the shortest week of 2020 — the week we lived with the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette. Time seemed to slip away as we created little windows of opportunity to get behind the wheel, take pictures, answer dozens of questions from onlookers, and give at least a half dozen rides. Since it showed up in 1953, the Corvette has been the number one aspired-to vehicle in America. No different for this reinterpretation of the all-American sports car.
