Polestar opens dedicated design studio in Gothenburg



(February 24, 2023) GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Polestar has inaugurated its new design studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, nestled in a dense forest adjacent the brand’s global headquarters. The dedicated facility provides a specialist home for up to 120 design team members, led by Maximilian Missoni, in an environment that combines modernist architecture with the brand’s clean, minimalistic Scandinavian aesthetic.

Bentley announces end to 12-cylinder engine production



(February 23, 2023) CREWE, England — Bentley has announced that it will cease production of its 12-cylinder petrolgas in April 2024, by which time more than 100,000 examples of the iconic W12 will have been handcrafted in the company’s Dream Factory in Crewe. The decision comes as part of Bentley’s acceleration towards a sustainable future through its Beyond100 strategy which will see the company’s entire model line fully electrified by the start of the next decade.

Hyundai announces pricing for 2023 Ioniq 6 EV starting at $42,715



(February 22, 2023) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai Motor America has revealed pricing, packaging and a 53-kWh battery pack option for its highly anticipated Ioniq 6 electric vehicle. Customers can select from two battery pack options, either 53 kWh or 77.4 kWh, and two motor layouts, either a rear motor only or both front and rear motors for all-wheel drive.

BMW largest automotive exporter by value for 9th consecutive year



(February 22, 2023) SPARTANBURG, S.C.  — For the ninth consecutive year, BMW Manufacturing led the nation in automotive exports by value, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The South Carolina plant exported 227,029 BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes during 2022 with an export value of nearly $9.6 billion.

Put out to pasture



This circa 1980-86 Ford F-350 work truck has been literally put out to pasture in southeastern North Carolina. 1980 marked the start of the seventh-generation truck and the first complete redesign since the 1965 model. The seventh generation receive a new chassis and body, distinguished by flatter body panels and a squarer grille. This architecture lasted through the 1998 model year. Numerous gas and diesel engines were available.

(February 21, 2023) THERMAL, Calif.  — Porsche has pulled the cover off the first 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Carrera RS Package to reach the U.S. The special offering pays homage to one of the most the iconic of 911 models and was announced last year. Today it was shown to members of the media in person for the first time before an initial viewing opportunity for the public at Sebring International Raceway during the 12 Hours of Sebring race from March 15 to 18. Initial deliveries to customers will begin in only a few weeks.
