The Volkswagen Beetle GSR — A classic in yellow and black



(December 18, 2020) While the Volkswagen Beetle may be one of the most recognizable cars in the world, one of its most eye-catching variants is lesser known – the GSR yellow and black striped speed racer.  The GSR is a flashy, sporty, bumblebee-colored car that was the answer to years of requests from Beetle fans for a sportier version of the classic coupe.

The active life of this early 1950s Dodge delivery van appears to be over. The van rests in retirement in Nevada after it probably covered hundreds of thousand of miles delivering goods and services.

Three VW plants in North America networked on the Industrial Cloud



(December 17, 2020) Herndon, Va — Volkswagen has announced plans to connect its production facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn.,  and Puebla and Silao, Mexico, with the global Industrial Cloud initiative from the Volkswagen Group and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Industrial Cloud is an IT industrial platform, designed to gather and analyze data from all connected Volkswagen Group facilities on a real-time basis to help increase efficiency and productivity. Volkswagen's three North American plants are the first outside Europe to be networked with the Industrial Cloud.

GM investing $76 million in two U.S. manufacturing plants



(December 17, 2020) WARREN, Mich. — General Motors has announced plans to invest $70 million into its Tonawanda, N.Y., engine plant and more than $6 million into its Parma, Ohio, metal stamping plant. These two manufacturing-related investments support continued strong customer and dealer demand for GM’s Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. The Tonawanda investment will be used to increase capacity on the engine block machining line and the Parma investment will be used to construct four new metal assembly cells to support increased truck production volumes.



2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AR showroom gives shoppers a virtual tire kick

Volkswagen increases U.S. footprint with 2020 infrastructure developments

Homage to a legend — Alfa Romeo announces 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo



(December 16, 2020) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Alfa Romeo has unveiled the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo, inspired by the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, the brand's legendary mid-engine sports car. Only 33 units of this limited-edition 4C Spider will be produced for North America.

GM increases agility and speed prioritizing 3D printing



(December 15, 2020) DETROIT — General Motors has announced the opening of the 15,000-square-foot Additive Industrialization Center, a ground-up facility exclusively dedicated to 3D printing technology in the automotive industry. The AIC is the capstone of GM’s expertise and increased investment in 3D printing over the last several years.
