How Hyundai's concept cars provide an outlook of the near future


(May 5, 2020) SEOUL — Hyundai Motor recently revealed its latest concept EV “Prophecy,” the latest model to embody the company’s Sensuous Sportiness design identity. Like the company’s recent concept cars, its design offers clues about how future Hyundai models may look.

Concept cars allow automakers to push the boundaries of car design by exploring new ideas or styles. Traditionally, many car manufacturers have used these studies to gauge consumer reactions to radical features, while never taking them to the production line.

FCA dealers embrace online retailing experience

(May 4, 2020) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — More than one-third of FCA U.S. dealers and all of the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, FIAT and Alfa Romeo brand websites are now giving consumers the option to shop and purchase new vehicles from the comfort of their own homes through the Online Retailing Experience (ORE).

ORE — launched a month ago — has been implemented by 1,000 dealers stretching from Maine to California. Based on the quick adoption of ORE, more than 90% of the FCA U.S. dealer network now uses web-based tools to sell cars and trucks via the internet.

Porsche Centers to become modern gathering places

(May 3, 2020) Under a new concept Porsche dealerships are putting emphasis on brand experience and inspiration using digital media for individualized communication. The goal is that dealerships are  to become a central gathering place for the Porsche community, appealing to current as well as new customers. Over the next decade, the concept will be implemented on 850 existing Porsche Centers worldwide.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the re-opening of the Porsche Center in Hangzhou, China, took place as a special online event.

Automakers report April sales crash compared to 2019

(May 2, 2020) Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Subaru and Kia all posted sharply lower U.S. sales in April in what is shaping up to be the low point for automakers as the market reels from closed showrooms and government restrictions on household and business activity because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Volume dropped 54 percent at Toyota Motor, with demand down the same amount at the Toyota division and Lexus. Overall, the automaker's truck deliveries slid 50 percent and car sales dropped 61 percent -- even as the company's average new-vehicle incentive rose 24 percent to $2,551 last month.

Edmunds — 0% finance deals surge to record level in April

(May 2, 2020) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Zero percent finance deals surged to a record level in April as automakers pulled out all the stops to encourage new vehicle purchases during the coronavirus crisis. According to the car shopping experts at Edmunds, 0% finance deals accounted for 25.8% of financed purchases in April, compared to 4.7% in March and 3.6% in February. This is the highest level of 0% finance deals that Edmunds has on record dating back to 2004.

Richard Childress to auction No. 3 Dale Earnhardt Chevy for COVID-19 relief

The sale of the Dale Earnhardt-driven race car marks the first time Childress has parted with an original Earnhardt car from his collection. Bidding for the car will begin on Friday, May 8, and will end on Saturday, May 16. The entire sale price will be donated to benefit COVID-19 relief efforts.

Porsche offers three-month extension for expiring warranties
