Porsche 911 auction raises $1 million to benefit COVID-19 relief

(April 27, 2020) ATLANTA — Following a seven-day bidding period and 32 bids, an online auction hosted by RM Sotheby’s for the last Porsche 911 (991) to enter and pass down the serial production line has raised $500,000 (auction hammer price). Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) has decided to match the winning bid to raise the total proceeds to $1 million. The money will be donated to United Way Worldwide, less taxes and fees, to directly aid its work for COVID-19 relief in America.

GM announces closing of ride-sharing company Mavin

(April 24, 2020) DETROIT — General Motors has announced it is shutting down Maven, a ride-sharing company and its first prominent foray into the mobility space, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"We've gained extremely valuable insights from operating our own car-sharing business," Pamela Fletcher, vice president of Global Innovation for GM, said in a statement. "Our learnings and developments from Maven will go on to benefit and accelerate the growth of other areas of GM business."
