Aston Martin breathes life into a new V6 era

(March 24, 2020) GAYDON, UK — Aston Martin has revealed further details of its in-house designed V6 engine, which has been created initially for deployment in a new range of mid-engined sportscars, starting with the Aston Martin Valhalla from 2022.

Codenamed TM01 — celebrating Aston Martin’s illustrious engineer of the 50s and 60s, Tadek Marek — the engine has already undergone a series of extensive testing on the dyno, as the team make progress towards creating the luxury British brand’s first in-house designed engine since 1968.

GM collaborating with Ventec Life Systems to make respirator care products

Land Rover celebrates 50 years of innovation with snow art

(March 23, 2020) WHITLEY, UK — Land Rover has begun a year of celebration marking Range Rover’s golden jubilee by creating a giant piece of sub-zero art at its cold weather test facility in Arjeplog, close to the Arctic circle in Sweden. The 260 mile-wide artwork filled the center of the steering pad at the test track where all future Land Rover models are put through their paces during development.

A son's 38-year quest to find and restore his father's 1967 VW Type 3

(March 21, 2020) Lynn Pfenning spent 38 years chasing down his father’s beloved 1967 Volkswagen Type 3 fastback and four years restoring it to its original glory. The cousin of the Volkswagen Beetle was a major touchstone of Pfenning’s childhood. His father purchased the Brunswick Blue Type 3 fastback for $2,200 in 1967 after totaling his 1965 Volkswagen Beetle.

The car was no match for a cow he hit while traveling home from their grandparents’ house in rural North Dakota.

Petersen Automotive Museum to stream Vault tours during closure

(March 20, 2020) LOS ANGELES — For enthusiasts looking for digital entertainment while practicing social distancing, the Petersen Automotive Museum will stream Vault tours during its temporary closure. Led by Collection Manager Dana Williamson, the hour-long digital tour provides rare access to never-before-seen race cars, movie cars and culturally significant vehicles from the Vault presented by Hagerty.

Online Vault tours will cost $3. The admission allows the museum to continue to maintain its collection and support staff and digital programs during its closure until March 31.

An Advance-Design example



The so-called Advance-Design was Chevrolet's first all-new pickup built following World War II. It was introduced on June 28, 1947,  and remained until March 25, 1955, with various changes along the way. This copy, converted to a flatbed, lives by the side of the road in South Carolina.
