Hyundai autonomous cars hit the streets in Irvine, Calif.

(October 29, 2019) IRVINE, Calif. — Hyundai, in collaboration with Pony.ai and Via, has unveiled BotRide, a shared, on-demand, autonomous vehicle service operating on public roads. Starting on Nov. 4, a fleet of self-driving Hyundai Kona Electric SUVs will provide a free ride-sharing service to the community of Irvine, Calif.

Porsche extends electric sports car model range with the Taycan 4S

(October 28, 2019) It was only in September that the new electric sports car from Porsche celebrated its high-profile premiere on three continents simultaneously. Now, the company is already presenting the third version of the sports saloon with the Taycan 4S. The new entry-level model is available with two battery sizes and delivers with the Performance battery up to 390 kW or with the Performance battery Plus up to 420 kW.

The Great Depression Nash



The Nash LaFayette was the company's low-priced car in the 1930s developed to bolster sales during the Great Depression years. But the LaFayette had a hard time gaining traction during its first year in 1935 selling only 5,000 copies. Things improved in 1936 when 27,000 units went out the door. It rode on a 113-inch wheelbase with a 75-83 horsepower six cylinder. Retail cost ranged from $585 to $715. This 1936 model was discovered in a Texas salvage yard.

Nissan reveals high-power, twin-motor EV test car

The vehicle, based on the 100% electric Nissan LEAF e+, features an enhanced all-wheel drive system powered by front and rear high-power motors integrated with Nissan- developed chassis control technology.

GM strike over — New four-year agreement ratified by employees

(October 26, 2019) DETROIT — General Motors has announced that GM team members have ratified a new four-year labor agreement covering employees at 55 UAW-represented sites across the U.S. General Motors says the new agreement provides GM hourly workers with a world-class wage, benefit and profit-sharing package.

“We delivered a contract that recognizes our employees for the important contributions they make to the overall success of the company, with a strong wage and benefit package and additional investment and job growth in our U.S. operations,” said Mary Barra, GM chairman and CEO.

Mitsubishi reveals electrified concept in Tokyo

(October 25, 2019) TOKYO — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has unveiled the MI-TECH Concept small-sized electrified SUV concept car and the Super Height K-Wagon Concept Kei car at the Tokyo Motor Show .

Takao Kato, chief executive officer, MMC, and Ashwani Gupta, chief operating officer, presented those vehicles at the press conference and explained MMC’s electrification strategy.

Aston Martin and Brough Superior to collaborate on motorcycles

(October 25, 2019) GAYDON, UK — The iconic Aston Martin wings will appear on a motorcycle for the first time when the initial product of a new collaboration between Aston Martin Lagonda and Brough Superior is revealed at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, on Nov. 5.

Brough Superior, the eponymous performance motorcycle brand created by George Brough in 1919 and resurrected by enthusiasts long after his death is, like Aston Martin, a luxury brand with great heritage.

Toyota to offer rides in automated vehicles on public roads in Japan

(October 25, 2019) TOKYO — Toyota Research Institute (TRI)announced today that its Platform 4 (P4) automated driving test vehicle will be available for public demonstration rides next summer in Tokyo. Offered from July to September 2020, the P4 will demonstrate Toyota’s “Chauffeur” SAE Level-4 capabilities in a specific “mobility as a service” (MaaS) driving environment.
