Volkswagen celebrates 45 years of Golf

(March 31, 2019) HERNDON, Va. — On March 29, 1974, the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg officially started production of the Golf. Back then, no one had any idea that the successor to the legendary Beetle would end up selling more than 35 million units through seven generations. That means that a new Golf has been ordered somewhere in the world every 41 seconds, every day, without interruption, since the start of production 45 years ago. That is an average of around 780,000 vehicles per year.

Lincoln teases the all-new Corsair SUV to be unveiled in New York

(March 30, 2019) DEARBORN, Mich. — The Lincoln Motor Company will debut the all-new Lincoln Corsair on Wednesday, April 17, at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. The Corsair is likely the new MKC crossover probably sharing a platform with the updated Ford Escape crossover.

Details including engine options and features are still and unknown and should be revealed in New York. The Lincoln Corsair will be another in the changing Lincoln lineup, which now includes the Nautilus and the upcoming Aviator.

Songuo Motors introduces its NeuWai brand of vehicles at Seoul auto show

(March 30, 2019) SEOUL, South Korea — Songuo Motors has introduced its NeuWai brand including passenger car, truck, SUV, motorcycle and scooter models with advanced technology, groundbreaking materials, electric and alternative-fuel drivetrains and sustainable construction.

Twelve NeuWai vehicles were unveiled at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show Friday. Production of the first model will begin in 12 months. All models shown at the show and others currently in development will go into production over the next 18 months.

New Volkswagen Arteon to start at $36,840

(March 30, 2019) HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen has announced that pricing of the all-new 2019 Arteon will start at $36,840 including destination charge for the SE FWD model and $38,640 for the SE 4Motion. Built off the award-winning Volkswagen MQB architecture, the Arteon features a wide, planted stance, short overhangs and sleek coupe-like design.

The Arteon will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine, making 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Barrett Jackson to auction three vehicles for charity in Palm Beach

(March 29, 2019) PALM BEACH, Fla. — Barrett-Jackson will continue to build on its legacy of philanthropy with the auction of three charity vehicles during its 17th Annual Palm Beach Auction from April 11-13 at the South Florida Fairgrounds. To date, Barrett-Jackson has helped raise nearly $115 million for charities across the country.

One-hundred percent of the hammer price from the auction of each charity vehicle sold during the Palm Beach Auction will be used to support the efforts of Wounded Warrior Project, Jeff Gordon’s Children’s Foundation and Reach Out WorldWide.

Mecum Auctions returns to Houston with 1,000 cars

(March 29, 2019) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions will return to Houston’s NRG Center April 4-6 for Mecum Houston 2019 with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, Corvettes, classics, exotics, trucks, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more, as well as more than 130 no-reserve motorcycles.

Among main attraction consignments is a 1967 Shelby GT350 Fastback that is the result of a concours nut-and-bolt restoration. Completed in 2017, the restoration was overseen by two SAAC judges and used mostly NOS and restored original parts.

Mitsubishi says its Mirage most fuel efficient gas-powered car in America

At a stout 36/43 miles per gallon city/highway rating by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Mirage leads the pack.
