Subaru reports record May sales in U.S.

(June 4, 2018) Subaru of America has reported 60,146 vehicle sales for May, a 7.2 percent increase over May 2017, and the best May in the history of the company. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 263,019 vehicles, a 4.1 percent gain over the same period in 2017. May marked the 51st consecutive month of 40,000+ vehicle sales for the company.

Infiniti teams with Explorers Club Hong Kong on dinosaur expedition

(June 1, 2018) GOBI, Mongolia — The Explorers Club Hong Kong Chapter (ECHK) together with InfinitiMotor Company, will begin an expedition on June 5 in the Gobi Desert to revisit the historic expedition of Roy Chapman Andrews and identify new dinosaur fossil sites. In the 1920s, Andrews discovered fossilized dinosaur eggs on the first archaeological mission to use motorized vehicles, which allowed him to more efficiently access remote terrain in Mongolia.  

Waymo orders 62,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans for self driving

(June 1, 2018) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Waymo have announced they will expand their partnership with an agreement to add up to 62,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans to Waymo’s self-driving fleet. This venture builds upon a previous commitment,announced in January, to deliver thousands of vehicles to Waymo’s driverless transportation service. Vehicle delivery is expected to begin in late 2018.
 

SoftBank Vision Fund to invest $2.25 billion in GM automated technology

(June 2, 2018) DETROIT — General Motors announced this week that the SoftBank Vision Fund will invest $2.25 billion in GM Cruise Holdings (GM Cruise), further strengthening the company’s plans to commercialize AV technology at a large scale. GM will also invest $1.1 billion in GM Cruise upon closing of the transaction.

“Our Cruise and GM teams together have made tremendous progress over the last two years,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “Teaming up with SoftBank adds an additional strong partner as we pursue our vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.”

Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 to go on sale

(June 1, 2018) YOKOHAMA, Japan — Nissan Motorsport International Co. (NISMO) is releasing its 2018 model of the NISSAN GT-R NISMO GT3, which is based on the NISSAN GT-R (R35) NISMO and conforms to FIA GT3 regulations. Build-to-order and delivery are to begin around January. NISMO launched the NISSAN GT-R NISMO GT3 in 2012 and has been supplying it to customers around the world including in Japan, Europe, America, China and Australia.
