Nissan Brazil reaches milestone — 30,000 cars made for export

(April 16, 2018) RESENDE, Brazil — Nissan Industrial Complex in Resende, Brazil, has achieved the milestone of 30,000 cars made for overseas markets. The timing coincides with the second anniversary of the plant's export program, which is exponentially growing due to an increased demand in Latin America.

(April 16, 2018) The most important thing you need to know about Cadillac’s new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 is that a slightly larger displacement version will be offered in the mid-engine C8 Corvette. The only remaining question is whether or not the C8’s version of this new engine will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission (doubtful), a repackaged version of the current C7 manual (possible), or the Cadillac 10-speed automatic stuffed into a transaxle case and fitted with paddle shifters.

Volkswagen soon to have autonomous parking available

(April 15, 2018) HAMBURG, Germany — Using what is to date unique technology, the Volkswagen Group is currently testing autonomous parking at Hamburg Airport: based on a car park map the Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles navigate their way to a parking space on their own. Orientation is provided for them by simple pictorial markers installed in the multi-story car park.

Ford’s global compact for U.S. market focuses on China

(April 14, 2018) When it goes on sale this July in the U.K., the 2019 Ford Focus will come in two body styles: a four-door hatch and a station wagon. These will be joined by a four-door sedan in the rest of Europe, a body style that will be front and center in China and the U.S. There are five available trim variations — Active, Ambiente, ST Line, Trend, and Titanium — and a number of powertrain options, including a six-speed manual and new eight-speed automatic.

Dodge//SRT teams, Barrett-Jackson to auction Demon, Viper for charity

(April 13, 2018) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Charity gets a mega-horsepower push this June as Dodge//SRT joins with Barrett-Jackson for a once-in-a-lifetime offer for any automotive enthusiast: "The Ultimate Last Chance" — the last unit of the limited-production, world record-setting 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the last 2017 Dodge Viper, the American hand-built supercar, auctioned as a pair. The auction is set for June 20-23  at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Conn. 

54th annual LA Roadster Show returns June 15-16

(April 13, 2018) POMONA, Calif. — The LA Roadster Show, America’s premier event for pre-1936 roadster and hot rod enthusiasts put on by the LA Roadsters car club, returns to the Fairplex in Pomona on Father’s Day weekend, June 15-16. One of the longest-running roadster exhibitions in the world, the event will feature the world’s largest gathering of pre-1936 roadsters as well as its historic on-site swap meet.

A fresh Fit for 2018 — Still king of the subcompacts

(April 12, 2018) For 2018, Honda’s excellent subcompact hatchback, the third-generation five-door subcompact Fit, undergoes a substantial mid-cycle freshening, including the addition of a new Sport trim tested here.

It slots between the existing base LX trim and up-market EX trim level. Regardless of trim level, all Fit models get an updated infotainment system, and greater availability of Honda’s Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies.

U.S. leads Porsche sales growth in first quarter

(April 12, 2018) STUTTGART, Germany — It's been a successful start to the year for Porsche. In the first quarter of 2018, Porsche AG delivered 63,500 vehicles worldwide, equivalent to an increase of six per cent compared with the previous year. This represents the most successful first quarter in the sports car manufacturer's history.

The U.S., Europe and the company's home market in Germany were the main drivers of growth, as well as the Panamera and 911 model lines. The U.S. market recorded the largest overall growth, with deliveries increasing by 10 per cent to around 14,000 vehicles.
