Subaru enjoys record-setting sales month in August

(September 2, 2016) CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Subaru of America has reported 60,418 vehicle sales for August, a 14.7 percent increase over August 2015 sales of 52,697. August marks the best-ever sales month in company history, breaking the previous record set in December 2015 (56,274). The company also reported year-to-date sales of 391,969 vehicles, a 4.4 percent gain over the same period in 2015.

It's race day with Titan of trucks — A unique modification exercise

Volvo Amazon — A female warrior turns 60

(September 2, 2016) Volvo’s timeless beauty, the Amazon, was introduced to the world for the first time 60 years ago. Named after the female warriors in Greek mythology, it is still one of the most iconic models in Volvo’s history. Volvo’s new four-door model was revealed in the first weekend of September in 1956. It had its première in the Swedish town of Örebro, with the elegant car differing greatly from the common perception of what a Volvo should look like.

This 1940 Pontiac sedan was discovered in a barn in eastern North Carolina. Pontiac sold 217,101 units in 1940, a big jump from 1939 when 137,249 units were sold.

Top automakers post sales declines in August

(September 1, 2016) Most automobile manufacturers posted sales declines in August compared to August 2015 in a rare down month for the industry. Ford and Nissan posted their biggest U.S. sales declines of the year. Ford dropped by 8.8 percent, while Nissan recorded its sharpest monthly decline in more than three years. Sales at General Motors and Toyota dropped for the sixth time in 2016.

The seasonally adjusted annualized sales rate for August is forecast to fall to a healthy 17.2 million, from 17.79 million in August 2015 and 17.86 million in July, according to the Bloomberg survey of analysts. GM today estimated the August SAAR at 17.2 million.

Strong Jeep sales propel FCA to August sales increase

(September 1, 2016) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — While most automakers showed fewer sales in August than in August 2015, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles bucked the trend reporting U.S. sales of 196,756 units, a 3 percent increase compared with sales in August 2015 when 190,887 sales were reported.
FCA US retail sales were 150,153 units in August, while fleet sales were 46,603 units. Retail sales represented 76 percent of total sales.
