12 Ballard fuel cell buses put into service in China

(September 30, 2016) VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Ballard Power Systems today announced the commissioning and deployment of an initial 12 fuel cell-powered buses in the District of Sanshui, in the City of Foshan, in the Province of Guangdong, China. The buses will be operated by Foshan Sanshui Guohong Public Transit Co. Ltd. from Gaofeng Park Station to Shuidu Industrial Park Station.

Ram reveals new 100-mph off-road Rebel TRX concept

(September 30, 2016) DALLAS — Ram on Thursday introduced the Ram Rebel TRX concept. Rebel TRX is a 100-mph off-road machine with 575 horsepower — the most powerful half-ton truck the company has ever built. Ripping over pavement at speeds greater than 100 mph is an experience, but the Ram Rebel TRX concept hits triple digits in an off-road environment with the help of a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8.

New Ford Raptor draws line in sand — 450 horsepower, 510 lb-ft torque

(September 30, 2016) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford on Thursday announced horsepower and torque ratings for the all-new 2017 F-150 Raptor that will continue to position the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup in a class by itself. Equipped with the all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost engine, the Raptor churns out 510 lb.-ft. of torque and 450 horsepower across a wide power band.

The redesigned 1949 Buick was the first to use "VentiPorts" that became a trademark of the Buick brand. The top line Roadmaster received four ports while the remaining Buick lineup got three. The ports actually corresponded to the displacement of the straight-eight engine installed. This rustic Buick is on display at the Cow Canyon Trading Post in Bluff, Utah.

GMC debuts redesigned Duramax 6.6-liter V-8 turbo-diesel engine

(September 29, 2016) DALLAS — GMC today announced the redesigned Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbo-diesel offered on the 2017 Sierra HD. This next-generation redesign offers more horsepower and torque than ever — an SAE-certified 445 horsepower and net 910 lb.-ft. — to enable easier, more confident hauling and trailering.

Along with a 19 percent increase in max torque over the current Duramax 6.6L, the redesigned turbo-diesel’s performance is quieter and smoother, for greater refinement. In fact, engine noise at idle is reduced 38 percent.

Volkswagen shows its future with I.D. electric concept car

(September 29, 2016) PARIS — Volkswagen is embarking on its journey to the future at the Paris Motor Show with the world premiere of the visionary I.D., a highly automated electric car that will be able to cover a distance of 249 to 373 miles on a single battery charge. The production version of the I.D. is due to be launched in 2020 at a price on a par with comparably equipped Golf models.
