People behind the Nissan ProPilot: Anthropologist playing key roll

(August 11, 2016) Designing the autonomous vehicle of the future requires an array of the best technical talent available: automobile and software engineers, experts on sensor technology and artificial intelligence, computer scientists, production specialists and many others.

But one profession you might not expect to find at the design table  — an anthropologist  —  is playing a key role in developing Nissan's next generation autonomous vehicle, analyzing human driving interactions to ensure that it is prepared to be a "good citizen" on the road.

Advanced technologies brought to 2017 Audi A3 lineup

Chevrolet 66 years ago



In 1949, Chevrolet presented its first "all new" model since the end of World War II. A lower, sleeker profile, with the lines of the front fenders smoothly blending into the doors to be countered by the rear fenders that continued to "bulge" out of the sides of the car. This slightly updated 1950 Chevrolet sedan was found  at the Wagon Wheel Motel in Cuba, Mo. Depending on model, the 1950 sedan sold for $1,450 for the Styleline Special to $1,529 for the Fleetline DeLuxe.

Ford's China sales continue to grow; up 15 percent in July

(August 9, 2016) Ford and its joint ventures in China continued their strong sales performance with 88,189 vehicles sold in July, up 15 percent compared to July 2015. Year-to-date sales for Ford, Changan Ford (CAF) and Jiangling Motor Corporation (JMC) total 652,836 vehicles, up 6 percent compared to the same time last year.

July sales for CAF, Ford's passenger car joint venture, reached 69,074 vehicles, up 20 percent compared to July 2015. Year-to-date sales for CAF accelerated past the half million mark with 503,719 vehicles sold, up 11 percent compared to last year.

Marketing campaign begins for Fiat 500X crossover

Kia celebrates record high in certified pre-owned sales

2017 Camaro ZL1 and 1LE — Get used to their taillights

(August 8, 2016) DETROIT — The 2017 ZL1, the most powerful production Camaro ever, and the track-bred 1LE are designed to deliver exhilarating performance on both the open road and the road course, and Chevrolet says at prices that leave the competition behind. 

When they go on sale later this year, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will be priced at $62,135 for coupe models and $69,135 for convertibles. Prices include destination charge, but not tax, title and other dealer fees. The 1LE package is a $4,500 MSRP option on Camaro V-6 LT coupe models and $6,500 on the V-8 1SS coupe model.
