Chevy Bolt EV plant ranks 8th among green power users

(July 26, 2016) LAKE ORION, Mich. – The General Motors Orion Assembly plant that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV ranks as the eighth largest user of green power generated onsite in the United States among the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership Partners. Over half of the plant is powered by methane captured from decomposing trash in a nearby landfill.

Ford Fusion electrified vehicle sales spike in Los Angeles market in June

(July 26, 2016) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Fusion electrified vehicle retail sales spiked in the Los Angeles market during the month of June, the first month of availability for the new 2017 model, as consumers remain charged up about the high-tech, efficient sedan with room for five.

Based on Ford June sales figures, Fusion Energi sales jumped nearly 40 percent in L.A. compared to June 2015. During the same time period, Fusion Hybrid sales jumped 35 percent. Both of these numbers are retail sales and do not include fleet sales.

Rare 1931 Mathis Motorcar emerges from hiding in France

(July 23, 2016) A 1931 Mathis motorcar, which was hidden in France during World War II, will be offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone Classic taking place July 29-31.

The now rare and collectible Mathis PY 7CV has spent the last 72 years behind lock and key at a Chateau in Northern France, having been concealed from the invading German forces who stripped the area of valuable collectibles in the early 1940s.

Mullin Automotive Museum to show eight French classics at Monterey

General Motors second-quarter net income doubles to $2.9 billion

(July 21, 2016) DETROIT — General Motors’ strategy of focusing on retail sales in North America paid off in the second quarter, with net income more than doubling from the year-earlier quarter. GM reported overall net income of $2.9 billion in the second quarter, up from $1.12 billion in the second quarter of 2015.

The company reported records for earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) adjusted of $3.9 billion and EBIT-adjusted margin of 9.3 percent.
