Jeep brand records fourth consecutive global sales record

(January 7, 2016) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Jeep brand recorded sales of more than 1.2 million units worldwide in 2015 — the highest total in its 75-year history — setting a global sales record for the fourth consecutive year. Sales of 1,237,583 Jeep vehicles improved upon the brand’s 2014 global record of 1,017,019 by 22 percent. In the U.S., sales of 865,028 units bettered the 2014 total of 692,348 units by 25 percent.
 

Chevrolet introduces 200-mile-range electric Bolt

(January 7, 2016) LAS VEGAS — Chevrolet introduced the 2017 Bolt EV at the Consumer Electronics Show, fulfilling its promise to offer a long-range, affordable electric vehicle for the masses. The Bolt EV, which will go into production by the end of 2016, will offer more than 200 miles of range on a full charge.

It also features advanced connectivity technologies designed to enhance and personalize the driving experience.

Mercedes E-Class awarded Nevada test license for autonomous driving

Yamaha, SRI International developing motorcycle-riding robot

(January 7, 2016) MENLO PARK, Calif. — SRI International and Yamaha Motor Co. have announced their collaboration toward the development of MOTOBOT, the first autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot. MOTOBOT is designed to ride like a person in order to aid development of future motorcycles, improve motorcycle safety, and push the limits of what is possible in design and performance.

The end performance goal of MOTOBOT is to be able to beat MotoGP world champion rider Valentino Rossi's lap times around a racetrack.

F-150, Camry retain crowns as U.S. auto sales smash record in 2015

(January 6, 2016) The Ford F-150 pickup and the Toyota Camry retained their sales crowns as the U.S. auto industry recorded its best sales year in history in 2015. The annual tally was 17,470,659 vehicles sold edging out the previous high set in 2000. December sales were strong at 8.9 percent higher than December 2014.
