Mercedes-AMG expands 12-cylinder engine production

(November 19, 2015) MANNHEIM, Germany — Due to strong demand for its high-performance automobiles, Mercedes-AMG will start the assembly of its 12-cylinder engines in a new location at Daimler’s site in Mannheim. The traditional AMG “one man, one engine” philosophy continues to hold true: each powerful AMG engine will be built completely by hand by just one engine fitter.

The employees who currently assemble 12-cylinder engines at the AMG headquarters in Affalterbach will be shifted to the eight-cylinder engine lines.

Upgraded 2016 Nissan Sentra debuts in Los Angeles

(November 19, 2015) LOS ANGELES — Following major revisions of the Nissan Maxima “4-Door Sports Car” and best-selling Nissan Altima for the 2016 model year, Nissan on Wednesday debuted a significantly revised 2016 Sentra at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in late December.

“For 2016, we’re giving our popular Sentra a complete makeover — that’s three-for-three for our top sedans,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing and Operations, during remarks to the media. “Like Altima, we’re taking a powerful nameplate and making it even better.”

Semi-autonomous Volvo XC90 drives L.A. mayor to Connected Car Expo

(November 18, 2015) LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti arrived refreshed at the Connected Car Expo this morning behind the wheel of a semi-autonomous Volvo XC90 that navigated smoothly and safely through congested rush hour traffic.

Garcetti was accompanied by Lex Kerssemakers, president and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, after the two participated in a press conference at the CalTrans building in downtown Los Angeles that highlighted policies and technologies to make the city’s roads safer for pedestrians and vehicle occupants.
