Dallas residents participate in i-Road and COMS customer focus groups

(June 17, 2015) DALLAS — Texans are taking a zippy zero emission spin, courtesy of Toyota. North Texas residents met the i-Road, three wheeled electric vehicle, and COMS, super-compact electric vehicle, last weekend at the American Airlines center in Dallas.

The 65 participants spent time taking the cars through their paces, answering questions about their driving preferences, how ultra-compact electric vehicles could be used in their daily lives, and providing product feedback to Toyota researchers.

Used Chevrolet Volt batteries help power new IT building

(June 17, 2015) MILFORD, Mich. — What happens to the batteries that power Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric cars when their useful life is done? Five of them are helping keep the lights on at the new General Motors Enterprise Data Center at its Milford Proving Ground.

Repurposed scrap Volt battery covers already star in a variety of applications, from bat houses to nesting boxes for endangered duck species. Now, as Chevrolet closes on the second-generation Volt for 2016, it’s time to begin tapping the energy left in batteries from first-generation models.

Fiat Chrysler European sales up 9 percent in May

(June 16, 2015) LONDON — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles posted a 9% increase in passenger car sales in Europe in May, outpacing the industry for the fifth consecutive month. The Group was leader in the European A segment for the 29th consecutive month, with the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 accounting for a combined 29.5% share.

The Fiat 500L ranked first in the Small MPV segment for the month with a 24.1% share. The Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade have also established themselves among the best selling models in the Small SUV segment.

Chevrolet re-enters low cab forward truck market

(June 16, 2015) DETROIT — Chevrolet announced on Monday it will offer low cab forward medium-duty trucks in the U.S. in 2016, returning the brand to a growing segment of the commercial vehicle market and expanding choices for fleet and commercial truck customers.

The six new models — Chevrolet 3500, 3500HD, 4500, 4500HD, 5500 and 5500 HD —are based on the Isuzu N-Series, which GM will procure from Isuzu and distribute through Chevrolet dealers.

Infiniti to 'share the future' at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Kia exports from Korea to surpass 15 million units this month

(June 16, 2015) Kia Motors today announced that it expects to reach the 15 million cumulative export (from South Korea factories) milestone later this month. This landmark achievement comes 40 years after its very first export shipment of 10 units of the Brisa pickup truck to Qatar in 1975.

Ford builds on arts and music commitment with $500,000 donation
