2016 Chevrolet Camaro debuts Saturday in Detroit

(May 15, 2015) DETROIT — More than 1,000 people are expected to join Chevrolet for the debut of the all-new Chevrolet Camaro Saturday on Detroit’s scenic Belle Isle where hundreds of those attending will be Camaro enthusiasts — and their cars — from 35 states and Canada.

Front-drive NISMO completes three-day test in U.S.

(May 15, 2015) INDIANAPOLIS — Nissan NISMO recently completed a three-day two-car test at NCM Motorsports Park in Kentucky to continue the final preparations for next month's Le Mans 24 Hours.  The focus of the test was to complete longer runs with the pair of Nissan GT-R LM NISMOs and continue to build on the performance of the car in the run up to Le Mans.

Nissan's full team of LM P1 drivers attended the test, including Harry Tincknell who arrived in the U.S. fresh from his LM P2 victory at the Spa round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Acura recalling 19,500 vehicles for software error on collision system

(May 15, 2015) TORRANCE, Calif. — Acura will voluntarily recall approximately 19,500 model-year 2014-2015 MDX and RLX vehicles equipped with the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) in the United States to update system software, free of charge.

The CMBS may incorrectly determine that there is the potential for a forward collision if a vehicle detected ahead is traveling near a metallic structure, such as a metal guard rail or fence; this could lead the CMBS to apply the vehicle brakes unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash with following traffic.

GM investing $1 billion in National Historic Landmark site

(May 14, 2015) WARREN, Mich. — General Motors will invest $1 billion in its Warren Technical Center campus, creating approximately 2,600 new jobs to support future business growth at the National Historic Landmark site.

The multiyear project, which is driving new construction on the campus, significant renovations of some existing facilities and expansion of some operations, begins this month with work continuing through 2018.

Ford recalls about 12,300 2015 F-150s for upper l-shaft issue

(May 14, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 12,300 2015-model Ford F-150 vehicles in North America for an upper I-shaft that might have been riveted improperly, potentially causing it to separate. If that happens, it could result in the loss of steering control without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries, but is aware of one report of loss of steering believed to be related to this condition.

Volkswagen sells just under 2 million cars in first four months of 2015

(May 14, 2015) WOLFSBURG — The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 1.98 million vehicles worldwide in the first four months of the year, down 2.2 percent from 2014. Sales in April totaled 496,100, a 4.8 percent decrease from 2014.

“So far this year, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand achieved its strongest growth in Europe,” said Christian Klingler, board member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand.

Toyota, Nissan expanding airbag recalls by 6.5 million vehicles

(May 13, 2015) Toyota and Nissan are expanding their recalls over problem air bags made by Japanese supplier Takata Corp. by another 6.5 million vehicles. Toyota said today it was recalling nearly 5 million more vehicles globally for the air bag inflator problem. Some 637,000 of the vehicles are in the United States. In Japan, it is recalling nearly 1.4 million vehicles.
