Ford maintains UK market leadership in February

(March 5, 2015) BRENTWOOD, Essex — Ford was the United Kingdom market leader in total vehicle, car and CV sales in February, and also the clear leader in retail car sales with a sector share double that of its nearest rival, putting  Ford in prime position heading into March, when sales increase significantly due to the registration plate change.

Chevy Colorado box delete expands options for businesses

(March 5, 2015) INDIANAPOLIS — With a box delete option, business owners and fleet managers can have it their way when it comes to customizing the back end of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.

Chevrolet has announced the availability of the package in mid-April. It is on display this week at the annual National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. It is the only such option offered in the midsize truck segment.

Mercedes-Benz introduces Metris commercial van in Indianapolis

(March 5, 2015) INDIANAPOLIS — Mercedes-Benz Vans has introduced the Metris commercial van at the NTEA Work Truck Show here this week. This follows the “Mission: Metris” teaser campaign at SEMA in Las Vegas in November, which featured four custom upfitted Metris concept vans.

The Metris, which launches at U.S. dealers in October, is the U.S. and Canadian sibling to the Vito, which remains the midsize commercial van nameplate for all other global markets.

BMW to debut 600-horsepower 2016 Alpina B6 Gran Coupe in New York

(March 5, 2015) BMW will celebrate the 40th anniversary of BMW North America as well as the company’s first major US motorsports victory at the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring at the 2015 New York International Auto Show  April 1and 2.

The company will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Alpina with the North American debut of the  2016 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe. Additional vehicles that will be displayed at the BMW Stand include the Sebring-winning 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL, a current BMW Z4 GTLM race car, and a 1970 BMW 2002ti Alpina race car. Other highlights will include the BMW i8 and  i3, as well as the BMW X5M, and X6M.

Chevrolet announces next-generation Malibu to be shown in New York

(March 4, 2015) DETROIT — Designed to deliver more efficiency, connectivity and advanced safety features than ever, the next-generation 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will make its public debut at the New York International Auto Show this April.

Using a blank slate approach, Chevrolet designers benefited from an entirely new architecture, which for Malibu includes a wheelbase nearly four inches longer than the outgoing model. That, in turn, provides increased rear legroom and interior space.

Audi and AT&T to wirelessly connect 2016 model year vehicles

(March 4, 2015) HERNDON, Va. — Audi and AT&T have announced that 2016 model year Audi vehicles will offer AT&T 4G LTE or 3G coverage.  AT&T and Audi enabled the first-ever in-vehicle 4G LTE data connection in North America in 2014.

“Our relationship with Audi has allowed us to improve the in-car experience, beginning with the A3 last year, the first 4G LTE connected car in the U.S.,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, Internet of Things, AT&T Mobility. 

Auto sales grow 5.3 percent over February 2014 despite winter weather

(March 4, 2015) Winter weather across much of the country in February blunted auto sales, but not enough to prevent small gains over February 2014 for most companies. Overall sales were 1.26 million, slightly below the predicted sales of 1.3 million.

“The underlying fundamentals supporting growth in 2015 remain solid,” Yong Yang, Ford’s chief economist for the Americas, said. “In spite of the recent rebound, fuel prices remain low and continue to provide a significant boost to consumer disposable income.”

Auction of Rogers' museum collection raises $9.5 million

(March 4, 2015) Mecum’s offering of Rogers’ Classic Car Museum collection of 230 cars brought standing-room-only crowds of more than 3,000 bidders and spectators this past weekend. The auction held in Las Vegas achieved $9,529,350 in hammer-price sales, proceeds which benefited The Rogers Foundation, supporting arts and education in Southern Nevada.

Beverly Rogers, wife of the late Jim Rogers, was present to help see the cars off to their new owners and to show support for the Foundation’s mission.
