Mercedes-Benz gives details of new corporate headquarters in Atlanta

(February 5, 2015) ATLANTA — At a press conference Tuesday at the Georgia State Capitol, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) announced the permanent and interim locations for its new corporate headquarters in Atlanta. Company President and CEO Stephen Cannon made the announcement with Georgia Governor Nathan Deal.

MBUSA, which is currently headquartered in Montvale, N.J., will construct a new, state-of-the-art headquarters facility on a greenfield site located at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads in Sandy Springs, expected to be completed in early 2018.

1938 Chevrolet lives in retirement in North Dakota



This relatively well preserved 1938 two-door sedan, minus a rear window and sporting a smashed-up grille, was discovered in Ellendale, N.D. The Chevrolet was redesigned for the 1937 model year, so styling changes were few for 1938, but did include a reworking of the grille. The volume-leader in 1938 was the Master DeLuxe Town Sedan, which sold for $750.

GM's fourth-quarter pre-tax profit surges to $2.4 billion

(February 5, 2015) DETROIT — General Motors said its fourth-quarter pretax profit rose 27 percent to $2.41 billion, its best fourth-quarter result since the 2009 bankruptcy, thanks to stronger pricing across its major markets and growing pickup and SUV sales in North America.

The pretax number, which the company believes best reflects its underlying performance, excluded about $900 million in special charges, mostly related to the redemption of outstanding preferred shares. Including those charges, fourth-quarter net income rose 21 percent to $1.11 billion.

Mazda presenting a wave of new and updated models at Geneva Motor Show

(February 5, 2015) Mazda’s model offensive will go into overdrive at the 85th Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Japanese carmaker will showcase the all-new Mazda CX-3 — its fifth model launch in six months — alongside two new model generations, the all-new Mazda MX-5 and the recently introduced Mazda2, and the 2015 Mazda CX-5 and 2015 Mazda6.

Audi sets 49th straight monthly U.S. record in January

(February 4, 2015) Led by sales of the new A3, Audi reported that its January 2015 sales increased 14.3% to 11,541 vehicles, a total that stands as the 49th consecutive month of record U.S. sales for the premium brand.

On the heels of its fifth consecutive year of record sales, Audi continued its retail momentum in January, with the best-ever January results in Audi U.S. history. The previous January record was set in 2014 with sales of 10,101 vehicles.

Trucks, SUVs lead Toyota to 15.6 percent sales gain

(February 4, 2015) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has reported January 2015 sales of 169,194, an increase of 15.6 percent from January 2014 on a volume basis. With one additional selling day in January 2015, sales were up 11.2 percent on a daily selling rate basis as combined light truck sales set a January record .

Toyota division posted January 2015 sales of 146,063 units, up 13.5 percent.  
 

Ford adds 1,550 jobs to support demand for all-new F-150

(February 4, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — As Ford ramps up production of the all-new F-150, the company today announced it will add 1,550 new jobs across its Kansas City Assembly, Dearborn Stamping, Dearborn Diversified and Sterling Axle facilities in the first quarter of 2015. The new jobs will support production and growing customer demand for the recently launched 2015 Ford F-150.

2016 Nissan Maxima confirmed as company's Super Bowl surprise

(February 4, 2015) NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nissan has announced that its next-generation Maxima sports sedan was the product that made a cameo appearance at the end of its popular "With Dad" Super Bowl XLIX commercial.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima, the brand's flagship product and signature "4-Door Sports Car," will make its official world debut at the New York International Auto Show in April.

American Honda kicks off 2015 with record January sales

(February 3, 2015) TORRANCE, Calif. — American Honda today reported a new January record on Honda and Acura vehicle sales of 102,184 units, an increase of 11.5 percent versus January 2014. Overall AHM light trucks led sales gains for both brands and set a January record, increasing 25.2 percent on sales of 52,169 vehicles.

The Honda brand set a January record, up 11.6 percent for the month while recording sales of 90,202 vehicles. The Acura brand posted sales of 11,982 units in January, increasing 10.7 percent over the same period last year.
