Six Chevrolet Certified Service Rescue trucks to be on hand at Woodward

(August 11, 2014) DETROIT — The Chevrolet Certified Service Rescue Squad will cruise Woodward Avenue on Saturday, Aug. 16,  to help keep things moving by lending an assist to beautiful classic cruisers that stall, overheat or run out of gas.

“It’s called the ‘The Dream Cruise,’ but an overheated engine, a drained battery or a flat tire can turn that dream into a nightmare for enthusiasts whose countdown clock to Woodward starts the day it ends,” said Chris Brandt, Chevrolet Certified Service advertising manager.

VW recalling 151,000 Tiguans over stalling problems

(August 11, 2014) Volkswagen said Saturday it is recalling 151,000 Tiguan SUVs in the United States for stalling problems. In a notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, VW said it is calling back the 2009-2014 models because "gas bubbles may form in the fuel system when winterized fuel with high vapor pressures is used in warmer areas or months with higher ambient temperatures ... deposits may collect and degrade the electrical current flow inside the in- tank fuel pump leading to reduced fuel pump performance and pressure."

Acura launches all-new 2015 TLX with big marketing campaign

(August 11, 2014) Acura is launching the all-new 2015 TLX performance luxury sedan with the biggest marketing campaign in the brand's history. The TLX, which combines sports-sedan dynamic proportion, premium luxury refinement and super-handling performance, is the star of a 360-degree marketing campaign under the theme "It's that kind of thrill."

The marketing campaign launches on-air Aug. 17 with the TV anthem spot, "My Way," which captures the passion of the team of Acura design, development and manufacturing engineers who created the new TLX.

2015 Toyota Yaris — Dumpy looking no more

(August 11, 2014) In a nutshell, the big news for 2015 is that the Toyota Yaris is dumpy looking no more. The compact hatchback has a more youthful, aggressive look with a distinct X-shaped grille motif. In fact, the nose is about the only thing that has changed on the outside.

Available in both three- and five-door models, the Yaris also gets a new interior, retuned suspension, more rigid body structure, and increased sound deadening.

TrueCar says August best month to buy new car, $1,850 lower than December

(August 10, 2014) SANTA MONICA, Calif.  — Consumers looking to save on a new car or truck should do their shopping in August, according to the analysts at TrueCar, Inc. New car and truck prices during the past five years in August have averaged $29,296 – $169 lower than any other month.

“This is a great example of the power of data, which shows dealers are clearing out older inventory in August,” says TrueCar founder and CEO Scott Painter.

Lexus NX goes to Nashville

New GM recalls involve 269,000 vehicles

(August 9, 2014) DETROIT — General Motors has announced several new recalls involving 269,000 vehicles.

202,115 model year 2002-2004 Saturn VUEs because the ignition key can possibly be removed when the vehicle is not in the off position. GM is aware of two crashes and one injury potentially related to the issue.

Dealers will inspect for key pullout or key binding, and, if necessary, replace the ignition cylinder and key set at no charge to customers.

Studebaker trio



Studebaker was on its last legs when these two 1965 sedans hit showrooms. About 20,000 Studebaker cars were sold in 1965, not enough to keep the struggling company afloat. The last sedan came off the assembly line in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on March 16, 1966. The third member of this all-Studebaker lineup is a 1960 pickup truck.
