1918 Cadillac added to Library of Congress Historic Vehicle Register

(July 24, 2014) DETROIT — A 1918 Cadillac Type 57 that earned its place in history during World War I has received an honor of its own. It is the fourth vehicle added to the Historic Vehicle Association’s new National Historic Vehicle Register and U.S. Department of the Interior Historic American Engineering Record.

 The HVA and Cadillac announced the listing, which was archived in the Library of Congress on Wednesday.

Fiat rides wave at Vans US Open of Surfing for second year

Ford Fiesta becomes best-selling car of all time in United Kingdom

(July 23, 2014) BRENTWOOD, Essex — The Ford Fiesta became the UK’s best-selling vehicle nameplate of all time this month when total sales topped 4,115,000. First launched in 1976, the Fiesta has led the small car segment in the UK for 27 of the 37 years and has been Britain’s best-selling car since 2009 when it overtook the Ford Focus.

Chrysler recalling nearly 800,000 Jeep vehicles over ignition switch issue

(July 23, 2014) Chrysler Group will recall as many as 792,300 model year 2006-07 Jeep Commanders and 2005-06 Jeep Grand Cherokees globally to fix ignition switches that could be knocked out of the “on” position, causing a stall and possible loss of power to the airbags.

Engineers are still developing a fix, and the company says it is initiating a recall “out of an abundance of caution.”

2015 Ford F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 delivers V8 capability, performance

Harley-Davidson reports strong second quarter; U.S. sales sluggish

(July 22, 2014) MILWAUKEE — Harley-Davidson second-quarter 2014 diluted earnings per share of $1.62 grew 33.9 percent on higher motorcycle shipments and continued improvement in operating efficiencies, compared to the year-ago period.

Second-quarter net income was $354.2 million on consolidated revenue of $2 billion, compared to net income of $271.7 million in the year-ago period on consolidated revenue of $1.79 billion.

Classic Car Week takes hold of Monterey Peninsula
