(October 16, 2013) DETROIT — Chevrolet has revealed a video of the all-new, 2014 Camaro Z/28 lapping Germany’s challenging Nürburgring road course in 7:37.40, a time comparable with some of the world’s most prestigious sports cars.

The Z/28’s lap is four seconds faster than the Camaro ZL1, and beats published times for the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. The Z/28’s lap was completed on less-than-ideal conditions, with damp pavement and pouring rain near the end of the run.

General Motors sets September sales record in China

(October 15, 2013) SHANGHAI — In September, General Motors and its joint ventures sold 277,647 vehicles in China, a record for the month. Sales increased 13.7 percent from September 2012.

GM’s Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling manufacturing joint ventures as well as all of their brands had all-time record September domestic sales. Shanghai GM’s sales were up 10.6 percent year on year to 132,783 units and SAIC-GM-Wuling’s sales increased 16.9 percent to 139,676 units. FAW-GM’s sales were also up, rising 3.3 percent to 4,733 units.

GM Arlington presses first parts at $200 million body shop

Five years later, OnStar still slowing down car thieves

(October 14, 2013) DETROIT — Nearly 250 times in the last five years, a signal to an OnStar-equipped stolen vehicle has helped stop a car thief in the act, gradually and safely slowing the vehicle to avoid a high-speed chase.

OnStar’s Stolen Vehicle Slowdown is one of three Stolen Vehicle Assistance tools OnStar offers subscribers. A Remote Ignition Block makes it impossible to start a stolen vehicle once turned off. And a GPS location can be provided to authorities once a vehicle is confirmed stolen.

GM raising price of Silverado, Sierra by $1,500
