(August 6, 2013) SPRING HILL, Tenn. — General Motors today increased to $350 million planned spending for new vehicles to be produced at its Spring Hill assembly plant, built originally to produce Saturn vehicles. The new investment adds $167 million to a previously announced $183 million pledge and is expected to create or retain about 1,800 jobs.

According to a new study Volkswagen Chattanooga has an annual economic impact of $643 million and has created 12,400 full-time jobs in the region.

(August 5, 2013) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures sold a July record 221,580 vehicles in China, an increase of 11.1 percent from last year’s previous high for the month and the first time that July sales topped 200,000 units.

Shanghai GM’s domestic sales rose 16.7 percent on an annual basis to a July record 113,239 units. SAIC-GM-Wuling also set a July domestic sales record, as demand for its products increased 6.1 percent to 104,682 units. FAW-GM’s domestic sales decreased 4.1 percent to 3,239 units.
