Honda Accord, Suzuki Kizashi get highest rating on new crash test

(December 20, 2012) ARLINGTON, Va. — A group of moderately priced midsize cars outperformed most of their luxury counterparts in a challenging new frontal crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) on 2013 models. Of the 18 midsize family cars evaluated in the small overlap test, two earn the top rating of good, 11 earned acceptable, three earn marginal, and two are poor.

GM moving Camaro production to Michigan

Hyundai recalls 13,500 Velosters for sunroof problem

(December 19, 2012) DETROIT — Hyundai is recalling about 13,500 Velosters with sunroofs that may shatter while the car is moving, the company and U.S. safety regulators said. The optional "panoramic" sunroofs may have been weakened during the car's assembly process, which could cause the glass panel to break, Hyundai said in a filing submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

GM to buy back $5.5 billion in stock from the U.S. Treasury

(December 19, 2012) DETROIT — General Motors today said it will purchase 200 million shares of GM common stock held by the U.S. Department of the Treasury for $5.5 billion, or $27.50 per share. The share buyback is part of the Treasury’s plan, also announced today, to fully exit its entire holdings of GM stock within 12 to 15 months, subject to market conditions.

Infiniti production to start at the UK's Sunderland plant

(December 19, 2012) YOKOHAMA, Japan — Infiniti, the premium car brand of Nissan Motor Co., today confirmed that, consistent with its global expansion plans, it will manufacture vehicles in Europe from Nissan's award winning production base in Sunderland, United Kingdom.

The announcement represents a substantial investment of around £250 million into the facility and is expected to secure a further 1,000 jobs at Sunderland and across the UK.
