Special edition Volvo C70 to debut in Los Angeles

(November 8, 2011) Volvo has announced the arrival of the new Inscription edition of the C70 — at launch in 2006, the world's first four-seater convertible car with a three-piece folding hard top as standard.

The new Inscription edition, to be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show, blends distinctive exterior details such as the painted grille and black 18-inch wheels with exclusive interior features, including Sovereign Hide upholstery and a leather-covered dashboard.

Volkswagen passenger cars brand reports 12.1 percent rise year to date

(November 8, 2011) WOLFSBURG, Germany — The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand started the fourth quarter with strong sales. A total of 4.24 million vehicles were sold from January to October 2011, representing an increase of 12.1 percent.

For October, the brand delivered 430,800 compared to October 2010 when 390,300 units were delivered.

Ford announces 2013 upgrades for slow-selling Flex

(November 8, 2011) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford has announced upgrades for the slow-selling Flex for the 2013 model year. There has been talk that the Flex may be dropped from the lineup although Ford officials say there are no such plans.

The Flex was introduced in 2008 and filled the gap left when Ford abandoned the minivan segment. But the seven-passenger family vehicle — part wagon, minivan and crossover — has failed to excite buyers.

Daimler Trucks North America produces 1,000th natural gas truck

(November 8, 2011) ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) on Monday announced the delivery of its 1,000th natural gas truck and is the first commercial vehicle manufacturer to achieve such a milestone.

DTNA turned over the key to its 1,000th natural gas truck, a Freightliner M2 112 compressed natural gas (CNG) truck with a Cummins Westport ISL G engine, to customer Ryder System, Inc. during a ceremony on Monday to commemorate the milestone at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

GM China sales set October record

(November 7, 2011) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures set an October sales record in China of 220,412 units.

Sales were up 10.4 percent on an annual basis as domestic demand for vehicles from Shanghai GM rose 4.3 percent year on year to a new October high of 103,309 units and domestic sales by SAIC-GM-Wuling jumped 19.2 percent year on year to a record of 111,957 units.

Jaguar XF 2.2-liter diesel begins trek across U.S.

(November 7, 2011) Today a Jaguar XF 2.2-liter diesel departed New York City with the aim of arriving in Los Angeles in seven days time — a journey spanning over 2,800 miles and 11 states.

With independent UK test drivers David and Alexander Madgwick at the wheel, the British-registered XF will cross a continent in order to evaluate just how frugal the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine can be.

2013 Nissan GT-R supercar gets 15 more horsepower

BMW returns to Hollywood with role in 'Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol'

(November 7, 2011) WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J — BMW will mark its return to Hollywood with the release of the latest installment of the Tom Cruise action franchise, "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" in December. In addition to the presence of  BMW vehicles featured in the film, BMW of North America will launch a Mission: Impossible-themed marketing campaign dubbed "Mission to Drive."

New Chevrolet Cobalt revealed, but not in North America

(November 7, 2011) So you thought the Chevrolet Cobalt died with the 2010 model year, replaced with the hot-selling Cruze sedan.

Wrong. The Chevrolet Cobalt is alive and presumably well, just not in North America. The name lives on as an all-new sub-compact sedan that will soon go on sale in 40 countries around the world next year.
