UK doctor's group trades Smart cars for Toyota iQs

(September 26, 2011) BEACONSFIELD, UK — Three Toyota iQ3 compact hatchbacks, boldly emblazoned with the red DOCTORnow logo, are becoming a familiar sight in Beaconsfield (northwest of London) and surrounding areas.

“Patients often wave when they see the cars driving past,” says Lynne Smith, Practice Manager of the Buckinghamshire private GP service.

New 2012 Kia Rio to start at $13,600

(September 26, 2011) IRVINE, Calif. — Kia today announced pricing for the all-new and completely redesigned 2012 Rio 5-door subcompact hatchback beginning at $13,600, while the Rio 5-door A/T starts at $14,700 — both lower than the previous generation. Prices do not include $750 destination charge.

Rick Hendrick buys first Camaro ZL1 for $250,000

(September 26, 2011) LAS VEGAS — The first 2012 Camaro ZL1 offered to the public sold for $250,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

The car was offered by Fairway Chevrolet-Buick-GMC in Las Vegas, with 100 percent of the auction proceeds benefitting the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

Kia's European success pointed up by increased production

(September 25, 2011)The United States is not the only area where South Korean automaker Kia has found considerable success. Things are also going well in Europe.

This was pointed up by the announcement that Kia will to introduce a third production shift at its European production facility in Slovakia and recruit 1,000 new employees to keep up with rising demand.  Recruitment will be completed by December to allow three-shift operations at Zilina in the first quarter of 2012.

Ottawa resident takes delivery of first Nissan Leaf in Canada

(September 24, 2011) Nissan Canada made history Friday when it delivered the first all-electric Nissan Leaf to a Canadian consumer at an event in Ottawa.

Ricardo Borba, an Ottawa resident and the first person in Canada to place a Nissan Leaf order, received the keys to his black Nissan Leaf SL from Allen Childs, President of Nissan Canada. Hunt Club Nissan in Ottawa hosted the event and is also hosting the Ottawa stop of Nissan’s cross-Canada Drive Electric Tour.

Ground broken for GM joint venture plant in Shanghai

(September 23, 2011) SHANGHAI — Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors, GM China’s joint venture with SAIC and Shanghai GM in Shenyang, today broke ground for its new manufacturing facility.

Located in Shenyang’s Auto City Industrial Park, the new facility represents an investment of RMB 7 billion ($10.96 million).
