Mitsubishi sales keep growing

GM recalling 10,000 trucks, SUVs for two issues

(July 2, 2011) General Motors is recalling more than 10,000 trucks and SUVs worldwide to address two problems. GM said it is recalling 9,215 model year 2011 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles that could roll away when shifted into park, because of a faulty part produced in China.

Car sales are expected to be up 23 percent for the first six months of the year, when June sales are reported today, reaching their highest share for the brand in 20 years, outselling trucks in June for the third straight month.

Consumer Reports supports 62 mpg standard

(July 1, 2011) Consumer Reports on Thursday said it supports boosting fuel efficiency standards to 62 mpg — above an initial proposal of 56.2 mpg floated by the White House.

The influential consumer magazine said moving to 62 mpg by 2025 would save consumers about $6,000 in owner costs over the life of the vehicle and cut U.S. gasoline consumption by one-third.
