GM sets six-month sales record in China

(July 6, 2011) SHANGHAI — General Motors and its joint ventures sold a record 1,273,502 vehicles in China in the first half of 2011, receiving a boost from all-time June sales of 193,878 vehicles.

GM’s first half sales increased 5.3 percent compared with the first six months of 2010, setting an all-time record for first half year sales.

Ford has best June in Canada since 1989

(July 5, 2011) OAKVILLE, Ont. — Ford Motor Company of Canada saw sales increase six per cent compared to last June, marking the best June sales since 1989.

Demand for Ford's fuel-efficient lineup helped to drive car sales up 32 per cent. Key sellers included the Focus, Fusion, Taurus and Mustang which all saw sales increase 12 per cent, 9 per cent, 19 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively. 
The all-new Fiesta and award-winning Fusion both had best-selling sales months.

New Chevy police cruiser patrolling Cumming, Ga.

(July 5, 2011) DETROIT — Forsyth County, Ga., Sheriff Ted Paxton saw the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) at several events last year and was impressed enough to be among early law enforcement customers. The PPV began patrol in Cumming, Ga., in May.

“With its emphasis on the ergonomically designed seats for officer comfort, and enhanced safety features, the Caprice is a vehicle that is made for police work,” said Paxton.  “We’ve had our vehicles for a month, and we’re sold. This will be a worthwhile investment.”

Honda warns dealers of low inventory in July, August

(July 5, 2011) In a memo to dealers Friday, Honda warned that a significant drop in U.S. sales could be expected in July and August because of dwindling inventory, according to a story in the Monday editions of the Wall Street Journal.

The memo has set a sales goal of 142,500 vehicles in those two months, the Journal reported. That would represent a 36 percent decline from the 221,166 units it sold in the same period last year.

AutoNation shows modest 3 percent gain in June

First production Evoque comes off assembly line

(July 5, 2011) The new Range Rover Evoque passed an important milestone Monday when the first production vehicle was driven off the line at Land Rover’s Halewood manufacturing plant in Liverpool.

The first Evoque to come off the line will be donated to the British Motor Industry Heritage trust. 

Audi's winning streak in U.S. continues in June

(July 4, 2011) HERNDON, Va. — Audi last week reported its sixth-straight record-setting month for 2011 with the best June U.S. sales in company history.

Last month, demand for Audi luxury vehicles increased 16.9% to 10,051 vehicles sold, from 8,601 vehicles sold in June 2010, marking the fourth-best month in Audi of America history.

Jetta leads Volkswagen to large numbers in June

(July 4, 2011) HERNDON, Va. — Led by the popularity of the restyled 2011 Jetta, Volkswagen of America reported  28,444 units sold in June 2011, a 35.1 percent increase over prior year sales.  Year-to-date sales are up 22.3 percent.

For Mercedes-Benz, things have never been better in U.S.

(July 3, 2011) MONTVALE, N.J. (PRNewswire) — Mercedes-Benz USA on Friday reported June sales of 22,563 vehicles, an 18.8% improvement over June 2010, and the company's highest June volume and first half of the year on record. 

On a year-to-date basis, the 118,021 vehicles sold represent a 10.4% increase.
