Mitsubishi gains momentum with 2011 sales

Volkswagen has strongest sales month in eight years

Hyundai, Kia flex muscle as U.S. April sales show surprising strength

(May 3, 2011) South Korea’s Hyundai and Kia were the big U.S. gainers in April with a combined increase of 47 percent, according to automovtive sales figures released today. Their three biggest Japanese rivals — Toyota, Honda and Nissan — all lost share as they battled product shortages following the March 11 earthquake.

General Motors and Chrysler boosted share gaining 27 percent and 23 percent respectively in April over April 2010. Ford was up 13 percent.
