Hyundai recalling 2007 to 2009 Elantra sedans for airbag problem

(March 22, 2011) Hyundai is recalling nearly 200,000 model year 2007 to 2009 Elantra sedans to fix faulty air bag sensors that could cause the front air bag to malfunction.

Hyundai says it will issue separate recalls to fix the problem. The first covers more than 188,000 Elantras from the 2007 to 2009 model years.

Nissan to resume production in Japan

Honda suspends U.S. dealer orders for Japan-built autos

Suzuki passes 10 million vehicles built in India

(March 21, 2011) Suzuki Motor Corporation announced today that it recently passed 10 million vehicles produced in India in 27 years through its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India.

Maruti Udyog Limited, which was formed as a state enterprise in 1981, signed a car-production agreement with Suzuki in 1982. The first resulting model, the Maruti 800, reached the Indian market in 1983 when the total passenger car market in India was just 70,000 units.

Czech automaker Skoda has lofty sales goals

Audi develops super-fast next-generation in-car broadband system

(March 21, 2011) Audi has unveiled an even more technologically-advanced edition of the long wheelbase A8 luxury sedan, which has been engineered to feature fast broadband internet with long-term evolution (LTE) technology.

LTE technology offers data transfer speeds of up to 100Mbps, which is similar to a fixed-line broadband connection.

Robonaut 2 is free and ready for work

(March 20, 2011) INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION — After being packed in a special shipping crate aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery for more than six months, Robonaut 2 is finally free and ready to get to work.

International Space Station (ISS) flight engineers Cady Coleman and Paolo Nespoli opened the crate and began preparing R2 for his assignment in the Destiny laboratory.
