New technology will eliminate need for charging cords

(January 6, 2011) LAS VEGAS — General Motors and Powermat, a pioneer in wireless charging technology, announced a commercial agreement today that will eliminate the need for charging cords for personal electronic devices in many future Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products beginning mid-2012.

Chrysler ends year with big finish

Chrysler Group had U.S. sales of 100,702 for December — a 16 percent increase compared to sales in December 2009 (86,523 units). For the year, Chrysler saw sales of 1,085,211 units — a 17 percent increased compared to 2009 sales.

Subaru has best December ever, sets yearly sales record

(January 5, 2011) CHERRY HILL, N.J.  (PRNewswire) —Subaru on Tuesday reported its full-year results for 2010 with record total sales of 263,820, a 22 percent increase over 2009, itself a record sales year.

The company broke its 2009 record as early as Nov. 3 and has showed no signs of slowing down since that announcement. In fact, December sales of 26,694 marked the best December in the company's history by a wide margin, exceeding the previous record set in 2009 by 16 percent. 

Hyundai sets all-time sales record in 2010

(January 5, 2011) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai on Tuesday announced December sales of 44,802 units, up 33 percent versus 2009.  For the full year, Hyundai reported 538,228 sales, up 103,164 units from last year for a 24 percent gain and an all-time Hyundai sales and market share record for the year.

Automakers enjoy solid December sales

(January 4, 2011) The U.S. auto market ended the year on a strong note with sales of 1.1 million units, a gain of 11 percent over December 2009.

Overall, U.S. light vehicle sales rose 11 percent to 11.59 million units last year from 10.43 million in 2009 — when demand fell to the lowest point in 27 years. It was the industry’s first annual U.S. sales gain since 2005.
