GE says it will purchase 25,000 eletric vehicles; 12,000 to be Chevy Volt

(November 13, 2010) FAIRFIELD, Conn. — GE has announced it will purchase 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015 for its own fleet and through its Capital Fleet Services business — the largest-ever single electric vehicle commitment.

GE will convert at least half of its 30,000 global fleet and will partner with fleet customers to deploy a total of 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015.  GE will initially purchase 12,000 GM vehicles, beginning with the Chevrolet Volt in 2011, and will add other vehicles as manufacturers expand their electric vehicle portfolios.

Lincoln expands maintenance program

(November 12, 2010) DEARBORN, Mich. — The Lincoln Complimentary Maintenance Program has become a permanent staple for all new Lincoln customers with the beginning of the 2011 model year. First announced last summer as a promotion for select model year 2010 Lincoln lease and retail customers, the program became permanent for all model year 2011 vehicles in fall 2010.

Honda Accord gets best possible crash safety score

(November 12, 2010) TORRANCE, Calif. — The 2011 Honda Accord sedan has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) best-possible Overall Vehicle Score of five stars, Honda announced on Thursday.

Helping the Accord achieve the top score were five-star ratings for overall frontal crash safety, overall side crash safety and rollover resistance.

Nissan recalling 650,000 vehicles worldwide

(November 12, 2010) TOKYO — Nissan is recalling about 605,000 vehicles worldwide for flaws in steering-column shafts and the batteries, according to a report by Reuters News Service.

Nissan said it will recall about 303,000 Frontier pickup trucks, 283,000 Xterra sport-utility vehicles and 18,500 Sentra cars, primarily in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

Chrylser to recall 2008 Jeep Libertys over windshield wiper problem

(November 11, 2010) Chrysler reports it plans to recall 16,000 Jeep Liberty SUVs to fix faulty windshield wiper systems.

Chrysler said the wiper problem involves certain 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs. Chrysler said water could get into the windshield wiper motor of the Jeeps and stop the wipers.

Chrysler releases prices for new 200, revised Town & Country

(November 11, 2010) Chrysler has good news and not so good news when it comes to prices for two revised and reworked 2011 products.

Chrysler today announced that the 2011 Chrysler 200 mid-sized sedan, replacement for the slow-selling and much-criticized Sebring, will start at $875 less than the sedan it replaces. At the same time, the reworked Chrysler Town & Country minivan will start at nearly $5,000 more than the base 2010 model.
