Fiat-Chrysler to build Alfa Romeo, Jeep models at Turin for world distribution

(November 27, 2010) Fiat and Chrysler will build Alfa Romeo and Jeep models for global distribution as part of a new joint-venture company that will take control over Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin, Fiat has announced.

Automotive News reports that Fiat-Chrysler will invest about $1.3 billion to retool the factory.

Nissan shows increase in production and sales outside of Japan

(November 26, 2010) YOKOHAMA Japan — Nissan today announced its production and sales increased worldwide in October.

Nissan reported that its global production in October increased 11.6% year-on-year to 363,227 units, marking an all-time record for October.

Special edition Fiat 500 sells out in 12 hours in Canada

(November 26, 2010) Chrysler Canada announced on Tuesday that the Fiat 500 Prima Edizione models which became available to the public one minute after midnight on Nov. 23 were completely sold out in 12 hours.  Five hundred of these limited edition vehicles were offered for sale, each with a unique numbered badge.

Ford to add 100 new dealerships in China in 2010

(November 25, 2010) As part of its ambitious growth plans, Ford is opening 66 new dealerships in China by the end of the year. Ford will have added 100 new dealerships in China in 2010, bringing its total number of outlets here to 340. The newer dealerships are located primarily in the fast-growing two- and three-tier cities located in western and northern China.
 

General Motors to boost small engine production

(November 25, 2010) DETROIT – General Motors on Wednesday announced a $163.2-million investment in its operations in Flint and Bay City, Michi., and Defiance, Ohio, to support engine production for the Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Cruze and a new Chevrolet small car to be built in the United States. The investment will protect 184 jobs at the three sites.

Ford names initial markets for electric Focus

(November 24, 2010) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford has announced the first markets that will sell the Focus Electric, Ford’s first all-electric passenger car.

The first markets are Atlanta, Austin and Houston, Texas; Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Orlando, Fla., Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Richmond, Va., Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

2012 Mazda5 mini-minivan to start under 20 grand

(November 24, 2010) IRVINE, Calif. — Mazda today announced that the 2012 Mazda5 compact multi-activity vehicle (mini-minivan) will have a starting price (MSRP) of $19,990, including destination and delivery. The 2012 MAZDA5 will go on sale at dealers across the U.S. in January 2011.
