Dodge Viper owners gather in Salt Lake City

(October 6, 2010) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Hundreds of Dodge Viper owners from around the world gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah this past weekend for the 11th edition of the Viper Owner Invitational.

The three-day event offered the ever-expanding “Viper Nation” crowd the chance to gather and enjoy a long list of activities, driving events and entertainment. Hosted by the Viper Club of America (VCA), the bi-annual event attracted more than 800 participants from as far away as Japan, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and close to 350 Dodge Vipers.

Ford, New York Power Authority team up

(October 6, 2010) NEW YORK — Ford Motor Company and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) have announced they are coordinating efforts to help prepare the state of New York for the operation of electric vehicles.

Ford and NYPA will work together to develop consumer outreach and education programs on electric vehicles as well as share information on charging needs and requirements to ensure the electrical grid can support the necessary demand.

Hyundai announces pricing on Sonata Turbo models

(October 6, 2010) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai has announced pricing for its all-new Sonata 2.0-liter Turbo starting at $24,865 including destination for the SE model and $27,765 including destination charges for the Limited model.

“When we first showed the Sonata Turbo earlier this year, we promised more horsepower than our V-6 competitors, with great four-cylinder fuel economy, all for under $25,000,” said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO.

Hyundai Sonata, BMW 5-Series top crash test ratings

(Ocotber 5, 2010) The BMW 5 Series and Hyundai Sonata topped all vehicles in new government crash tests for safety. But nearly every other vehicle tested got overall ratings of four stars. The only models to receive two or three stars were from Toyota Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co.

Fiesta lifts Ford sales in Thailand

The September sales total marked Ford Thailand’s best monthly performance since December 2007.

Subaru continues its phenomenal sales pace

A Subaru official said U.S. dealers are having a difficult time keeping vehicles on their lots despite increased shipments.

Toyota says electronic throttle not linked to acceleration problem

(October 4, 2010) Toyota said today thati ts  electronic throttle control did not cause unintended accleration.

A Toyota official said the auto company has investigated 4,000 vehicles whose drivers made complaints and found no evidence its electronic throttles were to blame.

Ford develops interactive road rally with new Focus

(October 4, 2010) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is teaming up with the Emmy Award-winning creators of The Amazing Race — Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri – to create the first interactive real-time road rally featuring the new 2012 Ford Focus.
 
The five-week program, Focus Rally: America, begins taping in February and will be streamed on Hulu. The program will capture the vibrancy of the Fiesta Movement but with the added element of a real-time reality show.
